Just wondering where the best place was to purchase a custom top level domain?

GoDaddy doesn't do it, and when I type in "custom TLD" in Google it just gives me loads of Articles :(

If you don't understand what I mean then I'm just looking for a domain that has my own custom ending rather than .com, .org etc

Thanks you! :)

bro I guess it's now will working:) tld is a top level domain which have rules and predefined endings.. like.com .org and country codes.. and an organization make the rules which is accepted or which is not

Best place is ICANN lol. The draft plan here ( icann. org/en/topics/new-gtlds/ eoi-model-18dec09-en.pdf) suggests a price tag of $55,000 to submit an Expression of Interest. This is an upfront payment for the actual application, although refunds will only be given if the actual launch date of reviewing applications is delayed beyond a certain point.

Still want a custom TLD ?

I think there was a company a while ago (4-5 years ago). I wish i can remember the name because i used to be able to make my own TLD ( .is .or. not .why) for FREE !

Now i cannot remember.... yes i know, lame !

Hey thanks for the reply. I know what a tld is ... my question is where do I get my own one from? :( ICANN?

It will never happen, not unless you have a really strong case for it.

However, I believe that in the next few years ICANN are looking at allowing people to register domains with their own TLD's and therefore will open up a huge amount of possibilites for branding (i.e you could register myproduct.mcompanyname)

But ICANN have received a lot of criticism about it so not sure when its likely to happen.
