CrazyDomains Anyone?

Just got a domain from Crazydomains.com for $14, payment went through but they asked me for payment verification info.

First time buying from them and I used my real Info.They are asking me for a copy of my Mastercard and Passport.Should I give them?

No problem for passport but find it weird to send them copy of my Mastercard.Anyone tried them before,are they good,can I trust this registrar?

I've used crazydomains for nearly all my domain names. Never had any verification with them. They are legit though, I've got about 4 domains with them at the moment.

I can't understand why either. They already have your CC details though unless you paid with paypal so I doubt they're gonna stiff you.

As I said, I've never been asked for verification. Maybe it's because I do use paypal when I buy from them.
 
They do ask for verification randomly. I have several domains with them, and the first time you register a domain, the order may be chosen for a security check. If you're paying with a credit/debit card, then it's not weird at all for them to ask for a scan/photo of the card - many companies do that. You should be allowed to cover the first 4 and last 4 digits on the card, though.

There was not PP option there,i only had CC payment,very strange that they asked for a copy of my CC also.Should I call them?Or just send them the details they asked?
 
If you paid via credit card then they already have the details so it won't hurt to just send them a scan of your card. They probably just want to make sure you're not using phished or stolen card details.

If you feel uncomfortable give them a call but I have heard their CS isn't the best in the world. Never called them myself though so can't be sure.

It is THE shittiest registrar ever. I registered 2 domains with them. 1 never got registered and I was still billed for it. After spending 1 month and uncountable phone calls and emails I finally got my refund. Regardless to say, I moves the other domain too. Never again.
 
Send them yesterday a copy of my passport and covered the number of my CC,they approved my payment but domain still pending!They even said on the mail,that domain may not be available,WTF!!!I'll wait for some days and see and if i don't get the domain ,i'll call them and ask for refund!!!

The worst registrar so far

NO ONE SHOULD EVER EVER EVER ASK YOU ABOUT YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION ! Even your own bank gives you your credit sealed !

To keep it short, If I have your a copy of your credit card, I can use it to buy w/e I want ! And if it's prepaid, You will never be able to get your money back

I am not saying they are scam, but I am saying, they should never ask for your a pic of your credit card. Identification like passport or ID might sound weird but acceptable, your credit card ! I would never accept that

Thanks,thats why i opened this thread as its too weird that they asked for it,I covered my cc and only showed the last digits.

The worst part is that i got an email from them that they confirmed my payment but not my domain!!!

Domain is still pending
 
Just a quick update, domain is not available now and they said domain was registered since 1996 and they were having some technical errors ,thats why domain was shown as available.

They said they issued a refund,just to warn members, DON'T EVER BUY DOMAINS FROM THIS REGISTRAR

After getting your passport + card details.... Or am I just paranoid?
 
crazydomains are legit, but they have extra 'hidden' charges like DNS, if u dont have ur own DNS server, they will charge u extra to set up DNS records for pointing ur domain at a site. as for asking for scan of CC, no way should u give that, even passport is too much to ask, there are other more legit ways to verify a CC.

i would recommend ventraip as an alternative to crazydomains, their pricing is in australian dollars too, so it works out cheaper if u are paying in US currency and they include free DNS services as well as free (for life) whois privacy.

another registrar i started using and transferring domains to recently is namesilo, they are more limited in the domain extensions they offer, but so far are really good from a price and included extras point of view ;)

Sorry to hear it didn't work out well for you TU, don't really understand what went wrong. I've read reviews both positive and negative about many domain registrars before for similar reasons but from my own perspective I have never had a problem like this happen before.
Technical errors?? Sounds like a shitty excuse to me.
