Ok so I'm uploading a CD to YouTube, it's a CD full of Dubstep remixes.

The first track is a Rihanna - Rude Boy remix. I have edited the ID3 tags using 'ID3 Editor' on the Mac, I've also not mentioned Rihanna anywhere in the title, desc., tags etc.

It's labeled as "Dubstep CD 1 - Track 1".

Every time I upload I get a copyright error from UMG (Universal Music) and when I go to the video it says "Buy iTunes" and it has the track name Rihanna - Rude Boy next to it.

I ensured the file was renamed aswell before I uploaded.

How does it know this? And how can I get around it?

Right click the file -> properties -> name?

Yeah I changed all of that, there was no reference to Rihanna in the track. I might do it on my windows laptop and see if that makes and difference.

Hmm weird...Don't forget to check details and securities. Maybe it's read-only or something.

They might compare the beat with a database like shazam is doing on iphone ...

if not i can't see no explanation

did you add random bytes at the end of the file.

Open up a hex editor and add random bytes at the end of the file.

I'll try that actually, because I did upload the track at first without editing the ID3 or any of the title information. So it might be comparing the bytes of the audio to the track I uploaded at first.

YT recognizes copyrighted material by using algorithms.

Even if you have a 10 minute mix with just 1 minute copyrighted material in it there's the risk of a flag.

And they're getting cleverer. Up till recently it was enough to raise the pitch with 1 semitone. Even those edited tracks are now recognized in a couple of my vids.

You just gotta edit the audio.

For every 30 seconds of copyrighter play time .. add a 1 second pause of some kind. Youtube checks audio for every 30 seconds. But, if you break that before the 30 seconds .. they never notice it.

Hope I am not confusing you. Eg: The song is 2 mins long .. put a pause at 27th second , 50th second, 1min 15sec and 1min 40sec.

The viewer wont have a problem .. because the pause will last only 1 sec.

Hope this helps.

This sounds good if you are trying to get them to download the song without the pauses.
