Crazy SEO Results

I never ventured into SEO until about two weeks ago. I paid somebody to optimize my entire site (on-page) because I knew that I would make an error. After that, I purchased some SEO gigs (backlinks, linkwheels, high pr/gov/edu links, social signals/bookmarking, etc). I have never attempted to rank for any keywords before this. My website contains a variety of keywords that I am now ranking for. I'm ranking around 40-60 in google SERPS for 12 keywords. I have seen SERP increases every day. Is SEO this straightforward, or am I missing something?

Note: my keywords do not get a significant search volume.

be careful, don't over do it or you might get slapped :) and try not to direct everything straight to your money site, use buffer site with your kw :) goodluck :)
 
Well u got lucky for now, purchased a bunch a of gigs...I hope you are ready to tank if your providers did shitty jobs.

Low search volume shouldn't be hard to rank.

What do you mean by buffer site?

I have stayed away from services that offer a ridiculous amount of backlinks in a short time. Instead, I opted to purchase high quality links. I don't know much about G's penalties so I cannot accurately assess the likeliness of my site being penalized, but this is a learning experience for me.
 
Yes, SEO is just about buying as many fiverr gigs as possible. However you might want to look into a different approach whenever you want to rank #1 for a search term which actually has competition.

This is an excellent point. Maybe try out one of the link building services from this forum, get to know the person you are buying him from and pick his brain a little more about how it all works.

That's not what I did at all, and that's not what my argument was. My approach was not as scrambled as it sounds in the original post. The links are contextual and relevant. I also purchased a service from BHW.

If I get penalized, I'm not worried. The site makes money without organic traffic. I will consider it a learning experience and continue to educate myself using any available resources.
 
If they are low search volume and low comp then it is possible to rank very well just with solid onsite optimization.

Nice to see you are willing to accept the bumps and curves and use it as a learning experience...that is how you learn and "figure it out"

If I were you, I would READ READ READ and then after that do some more READING.
Once you've read quite a bit (authority sources only), I would then develop a strategy based up on what you have read.

Follow this strategy which you have created.
This will make it easier to figure out what is working and what is not working.

Randomly buying links in the BST without having any clue what you are doing is not a great way to learn. IMO.
Develop a strategy, then buy links from BST (if you so choose).

SEO is all about testing strategies.

Yea since you see good result people start to over do it and get penalized ... Slow and steady win the race;)

No you will find it is not really that hard to get any keyword to these positions, however if they are difficult it can be hard to push them above, your SEO attempts just keep them floating around page 4 - 6.

A buffer site tends to be a high quality web2 with several pages, like a mini website, you point all your shit links to this web2, and one or two links coming out the web2 to your main website.

Start using some buffer sites, add a few tier1 guest blog posts, but I think the key to your ranking is in your Note about the kw search volume.
 
It's not exactly crazy results until you start hitting first page and positions. 40 - 60 means nothing.
 
Hey OP, you're doing well, its great you've taken action, thats more than most people here. :)

Seeing as you;re on a learning curve, and you seem pretty proactive, I'd do lots of tests and see what works best for you. Set a budget, choose some services, set soem strategies and see what happens.

My motto is: "keep one step away from the shit" - meaning, only point high quality stuff to your website, and the shitarse stuff can be pointed to your buffer sites.
