I can honestly testify that I have never spun a dog by its tale. Sure some things can be funny, but there's a limit, this guy went way over it.

There's a difference between pissing the dog off and doing actual harm.

Seriously, in what kind of culture can this be called "a tradition".

Is it celebrating the time that Bulgaria overcame its dog opressers?

Maybe the day that someone span a dog around and "discovered" centrifugal force?

It's one thing for a minority of people doing ignorant things, but an actual tradition, by the majority of people, it's ridiculous.

I agree with you. Dog spinning is banned all over Bulgaria now, except for the village of Brodilovo where it's still allowed.

Fucking Dog Spinning !! Man I've seen it all. This is what happens when you live in a town with no cinema or a television.

"Im bored, will we take a walk down to tree and back again ?"
"Ive been to the tree six times today.........hey do you fancy spinning a dog for a bit of exitement ?"

I had to think a bit before posting in this thread as it just makes me really angry. Senseless animal cruelty. Even is there is no other entertainment something should stop you when you hear the dog cry in agony. There is no "wheeee! Higher!!!", there is just pain and agony. Looking at the dog it is a recurring event. :(
Had the guy swung the dog into a rock to kill and eat it, I might not have liked the method but could somehow understand it so comparing it to animals being slaughtered doesn't cut it for me. We are cruel to chickens but it does not compare to the clip OP posted.
The Bulgarian tradition just traumatizes the dogs and causes no physical damage, unlike the tail method, but it is still sick. The tail method will cause for the dog to lose it's tail by amputation...
Somehow I can understand the guy swinging the dog, it's called peer pressure. On the other end I somehow wish a slow and painful end to the guy himself and everyone cheering for him. Strange perhaps, as I'm not normally like that. I genuinely believe in freedom in its broadest sense, the limit is reached when you hurt others. The dog swung in the clip posted by OP will need an operation to save it's live, will be in pain for days after every incident. Sick!

The Bulgarian tradition dates back to medieval times and it was there way of ridding the villages of Rabies. It was thought that if the dogs were spun fast over a river, the rope would eventually become unwound and the dog would then fall into the river. If any dog managed to swim to safety it was accepted that this dog was free of rabies, however many were so traumatized and dizzy for the ordeal that they drowned in the river. Also if a dog does swim to safety but shows anger, this anger would be looked at as rabies and the dog would be beaten to death. Don't forget that this still goes on in Bulgaria every year on the first day of lent.

You should try this next time a crazy savage dog tries to bite and gnaw you to death. Problem is the pitbull has a small tail. But it is completely unacceptable and stupid for the guy in the video to do that to a friendly dog.
 
So where is the sequel of this where the guy gets chopped up and thrown in the garbage? Piece of shit, if it was my dog I would make this piece of scum suffer.
