Nope, the ratio content/dupe matters. As mainly blogs were slammed it's logical how it works, they all have tags and categories. As they ratio is better for bigger blogs, mostly small blogs got hurt, while the big ones soared. Low content/dup ratio.

How do i know if i fixed the Catagory section? I downloade Yoast, I still see the link www.mysite.com/blog/category/my-niche/

Use the seobility crawler, it's a free account and crawl your site, it will show if there are any onpage problems.
 
@TheGreene No, it's not my site. Just the crawler I use as it's one free crawl in 24 hours and not in a month like siteliner, if you know a better one use it.

No, I was asking if its a website and not a plugin. But i found it, now my problem now is... Its searching on www.mysite.com which is not where the wordpress is hosted my wordpress is on www.mysite.com/blog/ but it will only start crawl on main site.
 
@TheGreene If you want to crawl your site you have to make a free account. Otherwise you are just able to check a page and not crawl a site.

Penguin doesn't update. It's continuous now. Panda is the same. They both used to be rolled out at specific time periods, but they're continuous now, which is good because you don't have to wait as long for recovery.
 
Please someone share case study who already recovered from this google update. I have an amazon authority site and I already lost 75% visitors. I don't understanding the problem. There are not any duplication issues, no pbn, 180+ posts and word count more than 1200+ words per post. I didn't created backlink much because i was thinking content is the king. Just forum and post comments backlinks.


Serplab: Still failing my rank and compare with "Best" to "Latest" to find how damage already have done!

@biccinnomanus forum and post comments backlinks? Seems like dodgy links to me. Are they niche relevant? Think you should dilute your anchors with a good press release

My website is a authority style site. So, I have lots of different type posts and topics. My most of the forum and comment links had some relations with my topics(It could be high or less but definitely have some relations).
My most of the links targeting homepage because I wanted to rich my domain power. A few post also have some backlinks.

Can you tell me how can i identify dodgy links? Actually, I am thinking to remove some links but don't understanding what is the criteria of dodgy or bad links.

The forum and comment links are they manually done by you? Or generated by software like GSA.

Are your internal links over optimized? (Etc are you linking from one post to the other via exact anchors)?

I work in a payday loans niche, so most websites here have no ads. Three of my websites got hit, also several competitors' websites got hit.

As for my websites, I have exactly the same backlinks as most competitors do: no PBNs, some business catalogs, some comments, profiles, paid catalogs like botw etc,
so the quality of the backlinks can be excluded since other websites with same links are still ranking.

The next thought was anchor text density, but I haven't found any pattern here since some websites with much more spammy anchor text profiles are still ranking.

After some more research I might have found the reason - ratio of low quality to good quality backlinks.
Low quality = the website has no organic traffic at all (checked via ahrefs).

Just think about it, if the websites can not be found in Google, so how did anyone add a link to it?
Most of the websites that got hit had at least 1/3 of low quality links, while the websites that are still ranking have at most 1/4 of such links.

I'm pretty sure that these ratios vary from niche to niche.

Did you recovered any of your hit websites? Actually, I am thinking this could be my issue. Because I have a few links and most of them forum link. And it is very difficult to get visitors from forum links(When you get link from not popular posts).

Actually, I want to know what step should follow to recover from this problem?

All manual backlinks. I didn't use any software to create link.

But, I think @larryc (Above quote) Comment is logical. I did not get or very less amount to referral visitors. This could be issue? If so then i guess, it will be difficult to me to recover my site. Because, I guess 70-80% forum or comment link don't give any referral visitors!

Yes, I did! Oh my GOD. It could be great problem? I will start to remove today and check if i get any better result.

Hi buddy. Don't panic and make any quick changes yet.

Try to wait a few weeks before making changes.

Nobody knows exactly what caused the update, so you're basically just guessing (and you might end up hurting your rankings).

Some people, including myself, are already seeing positive changes. Wait a few days and see if your site starts to pick up.

Not an expert, just my advice.

Logical! Yes, I am also thinking i will wait this month. Actually, frustration is just killing me and very difficult to stay calm!

Since the March 8th update, I've been experimenting to see what might be causing the traffic decline.

I'm happy to say that my normal traffic levels are back.

Since March 8th, here are the things I did:
  • Removed all AdSense ads
  • Changed from one CloudFlare account to a different one
  • Removed the WP-Rocket plugin
  • Signed up for Google Search Console
  • Disavowed some shady links
This could be a total coincidence, so I don't recommend going crazy changing each of these. It's possible that one (or several) changes made a difference. There's no way to know for sure.

Just wanted to share my experience.
