How to improve rank of my keywords ? My keywords danced in a week

Took a major hit to my main keywords a few days ago. Still haven't recovered. As I mentioned earlier it could be related to ssl issues I had after the move but it is quite bizarre. Objectively my site is leagues ahead of the competition. Right now there are PBNs with links to sites about herpes and viagra ranking for a very competitive keyword with a few hundred keyworda on page. Where as one of my main pages is over 4000 words long (trimmed down from 6000 and made more concise with less filler words).

There is a chance it could recover. I don't think the update is yet done, the aholes at Google are probably reading this thread and enjoying the panic. Don't give these **** the satisfaction and just wait. Huge innocent sites have gotten affected so it stands to reason they will reverse this crap soon

Which innocent sites were hit? Couldnt find any legit white hat sites that were hit. Hopefully this is true because this will mean some algo adjustments

PBNs are taking a hit. You lose ranks because you lose power. Dilute and build more pbn links.

You are not going to believe this but one of my site which is totally legit and i have not added a single PBN link to it is affected.

BUT my PBN powered site is improving in rankings except for just one page! It doesn't make any sense, the sites i've setup are worst and i haven't put any effort into it.

I believe most people that got affected by it are innocent and probably haven't done any blackhat. Read this thread and you will find various people saying their legit sites have been affected.

My niche, by nature, has a high bounce rate. People simply get the answers they need and get out.

I think the people here, you and google all have very different ideas what "legit sites" are. Whatever the fuck that means.

15 years old 0 link building legit company - thats what I call whitehat I bet google calls it whitehat too - losing 70% traffic in one night.

2 months old site, 300 refering domains in first 2 months of website going live , 15% exact match anchor , 30 articles skyrocketing to top 3 on multiple phrases 5k ms - 600% increase in traffic this is what I call blackhat

These are not my sites, but sites of companies i know

These two happened after update was already rolling. Now tell me what your logic tells you?

Are you guys using affiliates links on affected websites AND your competitors from top10 also? Is your website different from top serps by using ads/aff links?

My site picked up dramatically after the Feb. 8th Phantom update (I think that's the name). It increased in traffic by about 400%, then got hit hard on the March 8th Fred update. Since then, it's been super steady at about 1,400 visitors/day (down from 4,200 visitors/day). Site info:

  • 0 PBN Links
  • 0 Web 2.0 Links
  • 2 Ads Per Page
  • 0 Affiliate Links
  • 120 Articles
  • Article length = 700-1,200
  • SEO Optimized (but not overoptimized I'm pretty sure)
  • 100% outreach, topically relevant, DA30+ and DA20+ links on sites with traffic and authority
  • Naturalized anchor text
  • HTTPS
  • 1 second page loading time
  • 7 Moths old
WHAT THE HELL DID I DO WRONG?

Did you write all the content or did you pay someone? I truest believe this is a content related update.

Hi there.

I wrote the content myself. I currently do freelance writing on the side, so my writing skills are up to par. It's difficult to imagine that Google punished me because of my content.

I'm biased, of course, and could be wrong.

I'll keep an eye on my rankings and report back when something changes.

My traffic almost doubled after fred update :)

I was focused on content and dwell time - added infographics and videos on page. avg wordcount 2.6k words per article.

Nice job. What are your actual traffic numbers if you don't mind me asking?
