I have websites which are now 1 year old, which isn't old for a website but still its a bit of time..

Now its the strangest thing. As I'm monitoring my sites they'll literally go like this

week 1: Position 11
week 2: Position 12
week 3: Off the Map Completely (not de-indexed)
week 4: position 195
week 5: off the map completely
week 6: Position 9

This kinda crazy dancing has been happening with MANY of my sites for months now.

Does anybody else find this kinda result strange, considering my sites are a year old?

Sites are jumping from a good ranking, to gone, to back to a good ranking, to gone, to a middle ranking, to...

I thought this only happened with brand new sites... mine are a year old and have all unique content.

what the?

how about ur seo technique?
iam not ask the detail

yeah I have been experiencing the same thing... have a site that is just over 6 months old

I've often wondered if this can happen from content changing on the home page. For example, a blog that doesn't use a static page for the home page.
Probably not - but just throwing an idea out there.

Well established and old sites are also new experiencing the dance , its not limited to the new sites only.May be the recent changes has something to do with it

I also noticed this. Almost all websites are dancig like crazy. Old websites, new websites all. Only number 1 positions seem to be stable. I am not talking only about my websites but all the websites in my niches. I hope this thing ends soon.

This was happening to me quite a bit too, but not to that extreme.

Same thing here. I have a wp blog that is optimized for for long tailed keyword. Ranked in the top ten for months and now is dancing around from not even listed to, back to the top ten then gone again. Makes doing SEO quite the challenge.

It's the Caffeine update. I have had a number of sites bouncing around in crazy fashion. Most have returned to their previous positions. Some are still doing the Google boogie. My advice would be to wait until the movement settles down for at least a couple of weeks before determining if you need to do anything to change the rankings.

Has anyone seen the new webmasters tools interface? It shows you how many times your site has appeared on each serp and at what positions. Alot of my pages can appear in pages 1,2+3 all in one day. I think Google has put its dancing shoes on and is running with it. Less static search results probably speed up ranking factors such as bounce rates, click through rates etc. Gives smaller, newer sites a chance to shine. Bit of a pain in the arse though.

I really don't think this is going to settle down as much as people think. The caffine update is rolled out, this is it.

Exactly the same here. Wild changes at first and stabilisation afterwards (6 months +)

Pay someone to create backlinks for you! Easy right?

I have lots of backlinks...

well it seems like lots of people here are experiencing the same dance, even with older more "establshed" sites. Very strange.

For me it was common knowledge that this happened with newer sites after getting them indexed but this is just bizarre on sites 1 year and older!
