I emailed a guy on Craigslist about his Motorola Xoom tablet and he responded with an email that said he had sold it, but to check out a site. I didn't click on the link (for fear of viruses, etc), but from his description it sounded like a penny auction site.
I've seen this same method described here on BHW. Can anybody elaborate on if it makes money, which site to link to in the response email, etc?

Well the method is in the VIP section now and tell me this. Would you spend time on a method that doesn't bring any money in? Now you can answer your own question.
 
No, I wouldn't spend time on a method that didn't make any money...Precisely why I asked here instead of trying it and wasting my time...

Lol, I know how penny auctions work... Not exactly a way to keep your money. Do any of these sites have an affiliate program?
 
one of the oldest in the book, maybe the same age as CL :)

you can think monetizing it other than leading the "victim" to penny auction sites tho, another possible way: email/zip submits that claim you can win a gadget (iphone, ipad, xbox 360 etc.)

Any CPA networks that have quick/instant approval? Doing a zip submit might not be a bad idea.
Question about this one is are people still gullible enough to enter a zip/email to "win" something?

they rather enter their email than opening their purse you know, this haven't changed a bit

you can try applying to Peerfly
and when you're a publisher for a network, it's always a good idea to check/ask what type of traffic is allowed with the offer you want to promote and depending on this you should fake the referer and water down the CTR a bit sending some cheap traffic, if you find a winner for yourself and it converts too well ;)
 
Yep, this works.
Made a test when the post whit the method was out, got aroound 100 emails and made some quick cash.
But try not to make people pay, if it's free it's better :d

What offer were you promoting? Was it a zip/email submit or something else? Does this have to be done on an enormous scale to make any money? (And by any money I don't mean $1000/day...Even $20/day is fine)

I made only a test. Running a small offer for a test so not big bucks involved just a test to see if it works and it does.
