    Hi everyone,

First post on BHW, its a noobish question I could not find the answer to.

When doing KW research for your SEO campaigns, what is the relevance of CPC?

I hear many people talking about how you should look for high CPC in keywords and take it into consideration when looking for a high quality keyword, and that <$1+ is ideal, but why?

If this matters: im doing KW research for a video software company I'm part of

CPC is important if need it for adsense monetization , np for low CPC if the keyword used for other purpose like product affiliate , targeting search count ...etc, since you are doing for video software company no need to check the CPC , focus on related keywords with good search count .

btw since you are noob , make sure to know the low competition you see in keyword planner isn't for seo competition but for advertising competition .

It totally depends on the keyword in my opinion. About 18 month ago, if I found a low CPC keyword that was very low comp I would usually go for it because even though the CPC maybe low, adsence has an internal retargeting system to try earn as much as possible.

For example, you land on a page with a CPC of $0.01 but adsence detects a cookie on your machine for Netflix and they are willing to pay $0.25 CPC so adsence shows the netflix ad instead. I have used this stratergy on about 50 pages and managed to get around $0.25 CPC for the pages that had a much lower displayed CPC but the keyword was ranked using set and forget SER links.
