CPA & Youtube, problem with low convertsion

hi

I've found a video on youtube which has over 20.000 views daily. I contacted the owner and asked if I could have a link placed in the description field....

okay, yesterday I got my link inserted into the description field. In the last 24 hours it's been 8 people who have navigated from that youtube video over to my site, only 1 person have generated a CPA lead. Despite the youtube video have ove 20.000 views yesterday.

My site is a site which has it's own unique content with about 3 CPA offers on each page. The CPA offers I promote is cell phone submit, survey - win free iPad etc.. - concentrating on CPA offers which the user has to do as little as possible in order to generate leads. Thinking CPA offers which involves the user to buy something is very hard to sell, as the youtube vistor isn't easy to sell to. That's why I'm not selling anything.

The link in the description field have this text:
More Funny Stuff And Get Your FREE iPad <url>
which after youtube made layout changes only http of the url is visible.
Think maybe I should change the url text to include fewer words, so that the full url become visible. Also think not many knows what iPad is, so thinking of starting promoting iPhone instead. So maybe this would be a good link text:
FREE Apple iPhone: <url>

I could also direct user directly from the youtube video to CPA offer, but now is trying to go via my site. In that way I can promote more offers and also I check which country the user is from and promote CPA offers targeting people in that country.

any suggestions how I could improve the convertsion would be very great. With 20.000 views per day on the youtube video I was hoping to generate over 100 leads every day. Not just 1

might be that new bottem bar crap .. the new youtube changes are hurting me as well good things don't last forever i guess

Wow, it is the same method i was about to do... i would be expecting more than 1 lead per day also. Have you tried annotations? I think that would interest people more than description. And also it should be shorter in my opinion, maybe max 5 words. if you dont mind telling, how much does it cost to do such deal with the video owner?

You got any example of annotations I could use? ask as I'm not sure what annotations is, think it's a little comment provoking the user to willing to click on the link.

I'm paying $60 per month for that link each month
 
well the annotations are the text which you see when looking at the video, something like watermark. Youtube allows to put these annotations anywhere on and change them on already uploaded videos.

well the message which you could use: "Test and Keep the NEW Iphone" and the give them the link.
 
The new layout will cause problems for some time until everyone get's used to it. But having a slide on the video before or after the video with with a your link and short line about your offer might work better, but I don't know how you'll be able to pull this off with someone else's video.

Is your offer relevant to the video because that could also have something to do with your poor conversions.
 
hmmm, I get way more clicks to my site with way fewer daily views

make sure that the video actually matches whatever you are truying to promote - a guy looking for nude girls won't be that thrilled about a free ipad; find a video about ipad that gets quite a bit of views and drop your link there and I'm pretty sure you'll see better results
 
I will update the text, make it shorter - making the link itself more visible, as of now only http is visible. Maybe people don't click on because they don't see the link or don't understand that it is really a link. Hopefully making text shorter will result in more people clicking on my link. With 20.000 eash day I should have more than 5 hits per day.

Don't expect much more. Just being honest with you. Especially if your link is not targeted. The new YouTube layout is hurting you somewhat, but not as much as you might think.

The real problem is that you have a flawed business model and inflated expectations that are simply unrealistic.

You have a video that is not targeted, no call to action or reason for the viewer to WANT to find and click on your link, and a link that your visitors don't even see....partially the fault of the new YouTube layout.

Honestly, what did you expect? Conversion rates are going to be low...really low.....really really low. On top of that you are directing visitors to your site and not directly to an offer...even worse. At least if you direct them to an offer, some of these nitwits will fill out a CPA offer out of pure boredom or mental retardation.

Sorry, but it's not as easy as some of these guru's make it sound. yes, there is money to be made on YT, but you still need some business sense and creativity to make it work. You can't just buy links on random videos, slap up a random link, and watch the $$$ start rolling in.

Like others said, link to the offer, or even if you want to link to your site, make the offers more targeted to your site's content. If I'm going to a funny quotes site, I sure don't feel the need to click on a ringtone offer. Maybe try some like "How dumb are you?" or "which simpsons character are you?". Something that has to do with the interest already established if they're watching that video or going to your site.
 
I linked to my site because then I cold have control with what cpa offers being displayed. The cpa offers from maxbounty are valid in specific countries. So I have to check which country the user is from and then display the correct cpa offers. But look like all leads I'm getting is from US visitors, so I might link it directly to US cpa offer.
