It's not that CPA aren't real, just that people often mislead others as to what is behind the lockers... A lot of mobile games use the CPA model for in-game rewards.
They're also usually unethical because the offers usually gather people's info to spam them later. And they're just a pain to complete!
Regardless of that, as long as you provide something of good value that doesn't look spammy you will minimize trust losses.

If you promote offers/products that your targeted audience is interested in, that wouldn't drop the audience by big numbers.
As it will be a promoted post, expect the likes and engagement on that particular post to go down(obviously) but until and unless it's extremely unrelated, you should be good.
