I read an ebook recently which teaches a method about contacting forum owners then offering them a small fee such as $25 per month to put your CPA offer on their forum as a banner ad. I think this same method is also teached in the course CPA Warriors by Fergal Downes.

This sounds great in theory, but I think that people who run forums tend to be technically savy and they would already know about things like CPA networks so if they were placing ads they'd want to do it themselves. Particularly when considering we need to contact forum owners who's forum gets very good monthly traffic and not just some rinky dink forum with little traffic.

Does anyone here have experience with this method?

I would suggest you not to do this stuff also if you are looking to place banners on a site why dont you give media buying a go and contact site owners in your specific niche and pay them on a flat rate monthly basis but you will need to research a lot..using sites like Alexa and stuff...

Any particular reason why you suggest not to do this?

From what I've read in the ebook, contacting website owners to arrange a deal has become too competitive so the ad costs are high. That is why they recommend advertising on forums instead.

well you can do it on niche specific forums....like consider for suppose you are going to promote a health & beauty deal you are better of promoting it at a health based forum but you would also want to find out a forum with good traffic...and yes the ad costs are high because its banner traffic s targeted traffic.....sorry i gave you the wrong suggestion but you can do this effectively but also make sure you do it the traditional media buying way that's what i meant...
