Hello,
I am planning to build a niche targeted coupon/deals site.
My niche is going to be a small one, focused on one type of service. (hosting, domains or something)
Where to start?
I did some research and available options are CouponPress and phpCoupon script.
Prices are seems normal, however it would be great to spend less if possible :)
Do you know any others?
How should i proceed on technical setup and SEO side?

Thanks in advance.

If your site is couple months old, put HQ backlinks se how they perform on SERP and see from there.

Well i dont i have a site yet, need ideas to build one :)

I dont know what you mean but coupon business still works, right?
I am testing Clipper theme at the moment.

Well, I believe there is a lot of competition there. But if you can find a low competition niche good for you.

Yes, actually i found a niche.
I am aware of competition but i believe target niche is going to work.

If you got a main keyword to rank for try Keyword Revealers keyword competition analyzer and check your keyword there.

Never heard this tool before, looks great.
Going to sign up...
And what you recommend on software for site? Wordpress or anything else?
I need more ideas on technical aspects.

The site, use wordpress. Mostly because that's a known CMS and has many plugins for coupons I believe.

Coupon sites are HARD to rank unless they are very niche. It sounds like you're going into the hosting coupon niche, which is unfortunately also a VERY tough niche. I remember a guy on this very forum who ran one. It looked nice, but I seem to remember he was still struggling.

My advice to you would be to pick an easier niche that still has good volume.

Hello Thop,
Actual niche is not related with hosting but yes a similiar service.
I am still trying to find better niche.

If you think you can make it and the metrics are low, I say go for it.

I've tested with a few coupon themes before, clipper is easiest in term of set up. Basically everything looks just like their demo after you activate the theme.

I've always wondered, is there some API or feed that all these coupon sites are getting their info from? Or are they just scraping other larger sites daily?

Mostly custom scripts on servers scraping all the time

@OP : I hope you know what you are doing cuz it spammed to death Niche :D Like, it's not for starters or even professionals. It's for professional spammers, think of Viagra and Payday load Niches

Thinks like EMD, Micro Website, Tier linkbuilding won't work there... Good Luck

Some good advice from KHer0 here. I can see a hosting site banner on almost all the internet marketing related sites. But since you're keen on working this out, Just go for it. Spam link building will be good option to rank a site in this niche.

KHer0: Thanks for the all info.

KenWeiLL: You are running a "general" coupon site, right? What kind of methods you used on SEO? And may i contact you for more info, if possible?
Thanks.

I'm also starting a coupon website. One niche per subdomain or probably one niche for each subdirectory. I still havent' decided if I'll be using subdomain or subdirectory.
