Could someone explain the logic behind DEXTools, Birdeye, CMC, CG trending?

Is it really just based on traffic to that specific token page? Or is there more too it?

I'm wondering a bit more specifically how much trading volume influences these things, particularly on Solana where you have sites like Birdeye. I notice some hedge funds "market makers" tokens are 24/7 trending....I suppose it's possible but seems they would want to avoid doing more 'illegal' things like using proxies to spam a token to get it trendning and maybe it's based on the fake volume they generate from trading back and forth to each other.

Anyone have a clear idea on what goes into the algo logic as to what gets trending?

DEX trending is an interesting topic and a faulty one as well. Top trending tokens are often trading downwards for hours and sometimes days. Confirmed rugpulls often appear as trending as well

Many things considered, I believe that the number of transactions weights the heaviest

Majority of those platforms will trend when you’re token is getting enough influx on its page or going by trading volume.
