Could instagram block you in such a new way?

Hi, first time starting a thread here:

My question in short is: is it possible that people won't get notifications when I like/comment/follow them/their posts, as a punishment from IG?

I ask because I have noticed something strange about my account: earlier when I did like+comment manually to grow my account, I did get many followers through this method. (I never uesd any automaton program though)

But because I didn't have any idea that I needed to warm up my account at first, I got a "comment block" three weeks after creating the account. The block was lifted the second day, but I have noticed the engagement rate dropped significantly, almost zero likes from hashtags which I used to get a few for every post. I have checked I am not shadowbanned though.

The strange thing is that now when I like/comment on people's posts, I am no longer receiving almost any new followers this way. And what's stranger is that almost no one followed me back when I followed them lately, including some people I know in real life. (and I never did mass following)

So has anyone else noticed something similar happening? Thanks.

Twitter has been doing this for a long time so I wouldn't be surprised if IG does it too. You could test it by following another account of yours and seeing if you get a notification, that's how I always checked it on Twitter.

Really? I didn't know Twitter has been doing this already. I did test with another account and it did get the notification, but I am not sure if it's the case also for non-followers, since IG knows my other account shares the same IP and thus treats it differently.
