Couchsurfing!!!

Hey Guys

Going to take the Internet Marketing lifestyle mobile pretty soon!

All I need is my laptop - I'll be travelling different countries - and meeting new people - and you know what that means

IMHO Couchsurfing is the best way to meet up with new people and get to see new places. Trouble is that my CS profile is pretty new, and when you send surfing requests to people, they tend to look at the reference other people give you , and whether you're a verified member or not.

Q is: Can we game this system? Anyone who can send along nice positive references (preferably women) to my profile? Anyone who can pass along verified status? Any other social proof? I would of course be happy to pay them for their time.

I'm looking to score with hot women - there are plenty in Brazil and Argentina (my first destinations) that seem super open and friendly. They've put up pics with tons of people they met through CS. I'm going to take a legit shot at this.

An 'internet marketing lifestyle' is about as far from couch surfing as you can possibly get. Maybe more along the lines of the NEET lifestyle.

Erm = what? Newbie spam? First off - not a noobie. Second - what spam? Unless I am secretly doubling as a promoter of Couchsurfing. In which case - nice catch, genius.

I have other stuff to do - friends to meet - and as a single guy with way too much money in his pocket, I think I want to backpack/travel alone - and it'll be great to meet local people for a drink or two. Internet Marketing lifestyle is different for everyone, I guess.

Just remember to use protection (if you know what I mean). Though couch surfing is pretty common now a days, don't trust people so fast.

Have done two round the world trips now.

First time backpacking via buses on my own, second driving in a campervan with the wife and daughter. Both times 1.5-2 years.

Obviously it depends where you go, but meeting locals isn't so easy when you are using buses as you tend to go from backpacker destination to backpacker destination and mainy meet other backpackers.

Plus the language (and cultural) differences are pretty great once you leave the Americas / Europe.

Driving was different, as we would be stopping when ever and where ever we wanted. Plus as a family and with a 2/3year old, we seemed more approachable and often got chatting with locals and invited to their houses.

Where you thinking of going?

If you want some advice, don't plan to work whilst you are away. Save up, then go have a year of sex drugs and rock n roll. If after 6 months / 1 year, you find yourself broke, in the arse end of no where, with no way to get home. Then perhaps consider hunkering down in a bamboo hut somewhere, work for a few months, then carry on.

What did you do during your travels?
Well I daily checked my traffic stats, pored over CPC ratios and dealth with shaving CPA companies trying to rip me off and I saw a couple of elephants

To be honest mate, I don't really remember, I was pretty wasted most the time lol, had sex lots with girls from all over the planet, almost died a couple of times, it was amazing

Trust everyone is a much better motto. You have to have a fundamental belief in the decency of people otherwise you will miss out on many a good thing

Someone who reads and puts into action.

Someone who only says something when they have something worthwhile to share.

And this is the lounge, the exact place for this type of thread. Related to IM and of a casual nature for discussion.

RootJazz, thanks for the great advice, you've got me thinking. It's better that I hook up some passive income right now and limit my work there. I'm planning to head to Argentina first - the standard of living is great, locals are friendly and the women are beautiful. I think I'm going to setup some Clickbank websites, and push them to page 1 before I go, so that I'll keep getting deposits into my bank for at least 6 months.

Oh and just because I don't post, doesn't mean I'm not always around, lurking, judging and implementing

I never did much couch surfing, not many people want a family to turn up. But you are already at a disadvantage being male. Just plan ahead, you'll more than likely find somewhere. As to getting reviews before you go, no idea how you would do that, as if you put fake ones up, then it will look obvious as people will just check out who hosted you.

The people who host, tend to host lots so it will stand out. But I wouldn't really worry, just go with it, if you don't find somewhere, just go find a hostal, you'll meet more people that way.

If you speak Spanish, meeting locals (of mixed blood, less so with indigenous) in Central / South America is easy, as culturally are very similar due to European colonial ages. If you don't speak English, it is actually easier to travel through Asia where most locals will speak some English (at least in the backpacker areas), whereas in Latin America they don't.

I never made it further South than Peru in South America, but hear good things about Argentina.
