Correlation between links and G ranking

I bumped in to this article in Twitter and thought this might interest someone.

It is kinda data heavy, but that is kinda expected with this kind of research.

http://www.theopenalgorithm.com/correlation-data/links/

Basically the bottom line is that links have huge impact on rankings (not surprisingly) even after the recent updates.

Any thoughts?

This a good article..proves many of the myths out there about link building after the penguin update.

Good stuff my man.

Before I start reading theopenalgorithm, let me say first: this loos like EXTREMELY interesting stuff, thank you very much!

I went in deep and checked what is behind the site, so here is my review:

What this alleged 15-year old boy did was evaluating the ranking for many keywords, calculating the correlation factor between rank and an measureable quantity. So he is able to give a measure for the influence of many factors (on/off-site) on the rankings.

What is not so good (aehm wrong): averaging correlation factors (lots of discussion about that on several pages of commenters) and relying solely on data from seomoz. The name of the domain theopenalgorithm.com is somehow misleading and it is easily possible to assume commercial interests. I personally would not ultimatively rely on their findings.
