Hello guys,

What's the deal with copyrighted images on Instagram? I see all these pages as "Hypebeast" and others that have millions of followers, even people from this community who create photography/design related pages using images that they don't own (even without leaving a credit). What's the Instagram's attitude to this? Did any of you got your account deleted?

Thanks!

the attitude is that they don't monitor copyright infringement directly, however if you get reported, the pic can get removed/you can get in trouble

Ok, it makes sense. But what about this example of "hypebeast", they get 100k+ likes on post with copyrighted images. There should be tons of people reporting them for that reason.

It's a free for all you can post what you like and steal anyones photos. Its like trying to say that you uploaded something on the Internet and you want to ask the Internet not to share it.

You can post copyrighted pictures without any problem. You may occasionally get a pic removed but you will be fine

Well if the copyright holder goes to IG's website and submits a impersonation / DMCA on you, then you're fucked lol. But the chances that they would do that is pretty low.

it can be that they're just too big to get in trouble for this or how do you know that they don't have the permission from the copyright holders?

They probably aren't using images from comapanies that are hardcore in protecting the images. Usually if a photographer is giving away his or her images for free online instead of selling them for loads of money like getty does, they will not care about finding out and reporting people that infringe.
