Hi everyone,

The last two weeks I have been busy importing products from Aliexpress, especially shirts. The shirts had high quality photo's so it was very easy to import them, but still took me a lot of time to write good descriptions.

Yesterday I started promoting these T-shirts on Instagram, I followed people and posted pictures.

Then there was someone who started saying I was an 'ART THIEVE' and started posting screenshots of my products with miles long captions.

I just put the password back on my store to prevent anything from happening... but does this mean I did EVERYTHING for nothing? I'm really sad. I don't want to be an art thieve and I was really hoping I could be a succesful shop.

Is there anything I can do now? Should I close my shop? Should I just rewrite my Copyright policy and only delete the pins from artists that contact me?

Thank in advance for any advice.

Luke

Does the man have the copy right of that? maybe you can ask him for permission? Talk with him about this issue.

You're basically distributing items from China what do you expect? Lol

As @ilands mention above, you should ask whether the reporter is owning the rights.

And btw, if you need some graphic designing done for tshirts, I can hook you up. I hate to see people who worked thier ass off got thier work down the drain...

Are you talking about the Aliexpress seller or the person who called me a 'thieve'?

Yeah, maybe I should have known better. Just didn't think it wouldn't become an issue... I mean they weren't Marvel / Spiderman T-shirts or anything like that.

I will contact the reporter, if I can find him/her on Instagram. Probably not, because they blocked me...

Thanks for the offer, but I was actually using a more niche product, which I didn't want to mention. Sorry! And I completely agree, that's why I feel bad about it. I mean, it's not like these 19-year old designer girls are gonna do anything to stop me... It's just not feeling right. Do not do to others what you would not like to be done to you, right...?

You don't want to be called an art thief when the original artists contact you for profiting off their own original work? Do you see what's wrong here?

Some artists indicate which of their works can be used for commercial purposes and some only asks to credit them instead. If you import from aliexpress, do you think permission was granted from artists to use their artwork? I doubt it.

Probably not a good idea promoting it on IG or maybe find a different audience which doesn't mind what you do as long as they get what they want.

But if you don't want to be an called and "art thieve", it's probably best if you know the source of the designs and get permission from them. You promote them, they promote you.

Just place a DMCA link on your contact page, so that anybody who thinks you are promoting stolen artwork, can report it.
In your T&C's you should state something like you aren't responsable for the products listed, and these are 3rd party products you have no control over, but you'll remove
them if they file a dmca complaint form.

I don't see what's wrong, because here I am, making a forum thread, only because I'm looking for ways to solve this problem.

Yeah, if someone ever contacts me I will ask if they want a profit share, or if they want the product removed. Obviously Aliexpress didn't ask for permission, but I didn't know that Aliexpress stole designs.

I updated my Copyright & DMCA page, and now it says that I'll remove any products if necessary and that I'm also willing to give a profit share & credit them - if they want that instead. I will also update my T&C's. Thanks for the advice!

I've had my work stolen and listed on Marketplaces, slapped on T-shirts etc etc. It's expected to happen. But there's nothing worse than a seller who deletes and ignores pleas from the original creators and pretends to be ignorant of IP rights.

Who are you referring to exactly? I deleted the designs from the people who contacted me.

I think it's Clear that the OP didn't stole anyone design, he imported products from aliexpress in bulk, & one of the pdct feature a stolen creative.
Op, I suggest you sent the AE seller link to the original owner of design .

I will do that if she ever unblocks me. Thanks for understanding :-)
