Hey folks

i have a question. i was recently out with my brother, who is a pro photographer, to take some pictures of my latest product (dropshipping) for marketing purposes (social media etc.).

But I saw that there are 2-3 other stores that sell exactly the same product.

So how can I copyright my own pictures that I upload to e.g. Facebook. So that I don't have to be afraid that someone copies my pictures and uses them themselves.

Put a watermark on all of your photos, at least that way you will get brand recognition.
You can't manage a brand without finding out that someone else is steal your photos one day.

Some people send DMCA letters, some report on your social media accounts.
better make a research about copyright infringement or consult with a lawyer that is specilize in it.

but lets say he is removing my watermark (because it is at the edge, it is easy to remove).. put his watermark on it.

Watermark is best to secure your image from stealing and can safe you from copyright strikes as well.

if its photos then watermark is the only way even though that can be removed easily unless you use lots of watermarks on the photo which ruins the image.

If its video then you can copyright the video (in facebook , instagram, youtube) for yourself so whoever trys to steal your video it gets automatically taken down.

For a few pictures you can reverse image search manually and then use a dmca takedown request if you find someone using your photos.

If you are a photographer with a large portfolio or have many images online you can use a company like Copytrack that will automatically monitor your photos and sue on your behalf for a cut of the money.

But all you have to do is read around this forum to find many marketers who just grab photos online and ignore complaints.

Dmca requests are best bet to get them taken down. Assuming they are not in a country or using a host that ignores dmca.

Yes its for IG too. Once you claim as your content , people won't be able to post it without your permission and if you allow them to post then they have to tag you and give you credit.

watermark is pointless. It can be removed or you won't even know when people copy you.

As others have stated watermarking the image itself is an option, but not really appealing to your customers (if you have your company name all over the image). You could try to put your logo on top of the product itself or in the best case just really whitelabel it. The additional costs for a manufacturer to put your logo on your products is slim to none.
