Hi,

I'm sorry that I can't find the right category to post my questions.

My developer designed a site with similar function to another person's website for me. We admit that we made a mistake and took a tiny snippet of their site's CSS user login status display copied and part of their Terms of and Service but however that is where all the similarities end. Our site uses a completely different web framework and did not copy any HTML or JS.

We are both operating on the same concept, however he was not the one first to start this idea. Now, he is coming after us and threatening lawsuits. Does his claims have any ground and is there anything we can do?

if you live your site before his site then no issue about copyright. just you need to first get copyright of your site.

Thank you for your response, unfortunately their website was live first. We just want to know based on the info above, is it sufficient for a lawsuit?

you can't do anything if his site live first. but you can change minor functionality for preventing copyright issue.

Our functions are totally different, with different framework and code. Even his site concept is not originated from him.

then don't worry about this forget it and get your own copyright for your site as soon as possible.
