Copyright Strikes from using Creative Commons Videos

How is YT policing the use of creative commons content on their system? It seems that the rippers have made a mess by re uploading reams of copyrighted content and marking it as creative commons. I searched on Google forums, and it seems there are no good answers. Tons of people are getting copyright strikes for using creative commons content that really isn't. Why would YT create a system so easily abused, and make such a mess for themselves? I was thinking about using some CC content to create some new videos, but not now. You are opening yourself up to massive complaints.

I use CC videos and just recently it seems like Youtube thinks they aren't CC. I can't monetize them anymore for some reason and I had to acknowledge that they were Third Party Content.
 
did you get strikes? were they really all cc videos that you attributed with the editor, or did you rip and re upload? it's my understanding that you have to use the editor. but i am wondering if that gives you protection. seems like a jackass situation YT has created. if you can't depend on the CC license holding, then it's worthless system of content. you are just begging for a copyright strike if you use anything marked cc.

A common misconception is that YouTube videos with the label CC are creative commons and can be re-uploaded by any user. This is not true. Actually, the label CC denotes that a video has Closed Captions which basically means that the video contains subtitles, perhaps for hearing impaired/Non-English speaking viewers. If you want to check whether a video is truly Creative Commons you should open the video, expand the description and ensure that the license given is actually creative commons and not the Standard YouTube License. A Remix button will usually also be present on such videos.
 
yes, i used CC as a shortcut for creative commons. not closed caption. my original thread holds. the creative commons license is a mess with copyright strikes.
 
Is there any solution to upload a video on YT without copyright issues? if you know that so i would really appreciate your help.
 
Hello people. I am new on blachatworld (as participant, not as a reader). I want to share my expirience with this issue. I lost my 2 channels (due to copyright strikes) for using only and only youtube creative commons videos - to be clear, I was using them by clicking REMIX button, through video editor - and only that way! Both channels were bringing some nice money (not some fortune, but something like 300$ a month each), so I was offcourse dissapointed, but also very much annoyed, because I thought I wasn't doing anything wrong. I tried to contact original owners and to beg them to remove strikes, but it didn't work. Thay just ignored me. Youtube offcourse totaly ignored me (as you all know, there is no chance to contact them), so I went to some lawyer forums and asked questions about my right and thay totaly scared the hell out of me, by telling me how crooked I am, that I deserve jail :( and things like that, so I stopped any actions, opened another channel, that I am slowly building now.
The point of my short story is:
1. From this point of view, I would like to get back my lost accounts. I know it's probably imposible, but if someone thinks differently please let me know :)
2. Be very carefull about using youtube's CC videos, or don't use them at all, because sooner or later you will have problems with them.
3. This whole CC thing is maybe too good to be true, because it gives too easy opportunity to earn money. :)

I have years of experience with YouTube and especially with copyright strikes. One thing you have to realize is that, even if the video is Creative Commons, that does not mean that you can legally monetize it. If you want to monetize it, then you need some sort of permission from the creator of the content (e.g. written).

Be extra careful re-uploading what you think is "Creative Commons" videos to YouTube. Many of these videos are actually not meant to be Creative Commons, but other users (which are not owners of the video) re-upload them and tag them as CC.

Sorry for answering so late, I had other things to do.. Anyway, CPA offers and clickbank offers in the video description box did mot work...
Or maybe I used the wrong offers...
Now my girlfriend, whose channel it was, wanted to delete all the 350 videos as they were no longer monetized and she
deleted them unfortunately without discussing it with me....all the hard work gone...

Anyway, I have still about 1000 subscribers on this channel...
Is this possible to move these subscribers to a new fresh youtube channel
on the same youtube account, so as this new channel is not yet internally flagged, it is
possible to upload CC movies from the Youtube editor and get them monetized...
But be careful, what videos you take from the CC Library...
If you use TV interviews with celebrities, like my girlfriend used to use, these will be
flagged very fast and you will get copyright strikes...
Also best use videos with NO background music !

Now I only need to find a way to get my 1000 subscribers transfered to a new channel..
Any idea ? Can you merge 2 YT channels on the same YT account and bring
the subscribers from the old channel to the new channel somehow ?
As nowadays all youtube channels are linked to a Google Plus Page,
is this somehow possible this way to use the right owner of the Google Plus page
and merge 2 Plus pages and thus also the Youtube channels ??

What about if you KNOW it is Creative Commons. Is that OK a breach of their monitisation TOS or would we get away with it?

I dont think now you can use CC videos for monetization, Youtube has listed it clearly that you are not allowed to do so.

I think the opposite. YouTube itself, in its music library, offers Creative Commons music for download and use in monetized videos. YouTube lists on each track, you may place ads. Some require attribution, some do not. Additionally, YouTube states that Creative Commons videos can be monetized:

"These videos are then accessible to YouTube users for use, even commercially, in their own videos via the YouTube Video Editor."

Believe it or not, today I received a strike, because I used a CC video. When I found out the video was deleted and I had received a strike I contacted the video owner. She admitted that she made a mistake and offered her video under the CC licence and she said she used the wrong settings. I trusted in the CC setting, she is the original owner of the video, I named her in my video description according to the licence. Legally I made no mistake. I did not monetize her video since I am not partnered with YouTube anyway, I cannot monetize videos at all. I am only using CC videos to grow my channel and plan on creating my own content as soon as my channel has grown enough.

I would post evidence if I could, but because I am new on here I can't post pictures.

I can't believe I got a strike for this.
