I got a copyright strike from Adobe on a video where I showed how to get adobe dreamweaver for free. Surely it's for educational purposes and I haven't uploaded the crack shown in the video. I don't see how my video falls under copyright.

Is it safe to send a counter notification?

Not really. Copyright strikes are for videos that contain copyrighted material. I made a video showing how to crack a software and that video contains no videos or music that could be seen as copyrighted. It just contains my original content (my desktop and my mouse).

The Software and also the Name are Copyright lol so whenever show this software or use the name in your video title or description they can give you a copyright strike :)
 
They have all rights to copyright you, all you can do is file a dispute telling them "it won't happen again, I was unaware of this".
Considering the fact that they are corporation, it is less likely that they will remove strike.
 
Basically if you use their name, show their product etc. they can take your butt down however they want.

A friend of mine has a YT channel where he makes reviews for games. He got a pretty big audience. However, when gives a bad review to a game, the devs are taking the video down. If he gives a good review, they will leave it online. Welcome to YouTube 2019 - censorship all the way.

Since YouTube doesn't mediate copyright claims, I recommend you not to counter it. And your content is pure violation LOL
 
so basically you want to complain that the take down wasn't for the correct reason... since for example a review of a software can never be considered as a copyright issue, that's true.
but no matter how you try to colour it, you published a video guide about how to crack adobe software and get that product for free... and that is something that can be considered under scams/fraud and lead to a full account termination!
so better leave that strike and save that channel by avoiding adobe cracks.
 
What advice are you looking for here? You are promoting crack of someone else's product, of course, they'll get it removed. Please do not send a counter notification. You can show how to use the software, it will come under fair use but not promoting crack/keygen etc. :)
 
There's the argument as well that using a crack is a way to circumvent the copy protection of the software. If I was Adobe and someone was making a video how to crack the software, I'd be pissed off,too.
Count yourself lucky that they didn't flag the account in such a way that the channel got taken down.
 
Well Youtube itself does not tolerates videos in those niche and basically you are showing how to get adobe for free that means you are causing a loss to them for sure they should take your video down in first place.
 
I obviously haven't watched your video and I'm not a law expert, but yes, chances are the copyright strike has been issued illegitimately.
But here's the thing:
- If I remember correctly, content like this is not compliant with YouTube's TOS
- Submitting a counter notification will not change anything, as Adobe will simply reject it. It might even make things worse because as Adobe could use your personal information to file a lawsuit against you (this rarely happens, but it COULD)
- If you still wanted to appeal the copyright strike, you would have to take Adobe to court. And I would advise you not to do that ;)

He should have counter claimed. Free speech, fair use. A lot of people don't know their rights. I have taken many companies to court...not literally but i have had to get attorneys and most of these companies have backed down.
