Hello i plan to start a website which might go big, and my question is when i hire someone to design logo should i and can i copyright it?

Make sure you tell the designer you're buying the rights.

Other than that, sure! Feel free!

Of course yes, You can copy right the logo design but I agree with J100D before doing that you have to discuss it with your logo designer.

So if i tell him i take rights and he agrees, do i need to get some proof from him or something? I dont have guarantee that he wont say in future this is my logo i didnt give him rights.

If it's not public domain then everything created by someone is copyrighted from the start! The owner in this case is the creator so if YOU want the rights then you have to agree beforehand that any right to the logo/icon/fonts etc. will be owned by you.

If he disagrees to this then maybe you should offer more money for the right. However seeing as you've still not created the site, go for a simply logo, once the site seems to be going in the direction you expected, hire some real professionals to make you a branded logo (expect t o pay $x,xxx)

Yeah I would place a copyright sign in my logo if I plan on the brand to increase in awareness.
