You run the risk of getting google slapped if you do something like that. You would have to copy it and spin the content to make it unique in order to avoid getting a duplicate content slap.

You will have to find a different way to drive traffic outside of Google. It will be pretty difficult to copy a site and rank for the keywords using the same content as your competitors. It wont work and eventually the blog or site you copied might flag you and you will be de-indexed. Copying is an OK way to make some money, as long as you have a good stream of traffic.

That sounds fine, but how will you be driving traffic to the websites?

You'll lose. You can instead 'copy' the idea.

Are you talking about making a knockoff or something similar, like a domain name that's really close to what the other site is?

For example, mimicking the layout and content? Or 6 minute abs VS. 7 minute abs?

Knocking off is a great way to propel yourself into a market, just know that you are constantly one step behind and competing heavily for scraps. So long as you know your numbers and know when to jump out before you lose your hat.

I heard a story on NPR this morning about a-zon selling books that anyone can publish, some soccer mom wrote "35 shades of grey"...a great way to make short term money but you run the risk of burning bridges...

Most search engines will not only dismiss your clone blogs, they will block them, so there wont be a chance to make a money off of them since no one will find them.
