I've found a niche with literally no competition, just one site doing well with lots of content which is extremely well optimised for headings and content in terms of keywords. Almost 100% perfect.

I've got the same approach as this person so our headings (H1, H2, H3s) are going to be very similar, like literally a word difference.

My content (paragraphs) and images will be completely different.

Will google penalise if I have very similar page names/titles/headings?

they wlll anyway penalize, not now but may be later
why dont sue spinner

I'm not spinning any content, It's my title + H1s which will be pretty similar across 50+ pages, the meta description will be my own, along with a few of the H tags. All content original and mine.

What can do you do if a site has optimised extremely well and you would do the same?

Secondly, if my Titles + H-tags, page names are different with the same target keyword, will number of backlinks trump their rank?

I dont think Google will penalize your site as you are using unique content and meta.

Is there a way I can ensure that the site does not get penalized?

In your case, I don't think google will penalise your site,

As far as google concerns,
Penalties can be automatic or manual. With manual penalties, you’ll probably be told, but you may not always know you’ve been targeted if the cause is algorithmic. Those penalties may take even the most experienced SEO professionals by surprise

I think you may not get penalty by Google in such cases. No need to worry.

Honestly, you're building a totally different site. Google isn't just checking these individual items in a vacuum, so you should be good. Sounds like a great idea, good luck!

Hi Cachemoney,

Since you said that you just changed the words ,the similar tactics of spun content -You are already in the risk zone as Google not only hates copied content , it equally hates the spun content.
It also depends on how well you can optimize the on page .
Well ,I am little curious here .If you can do almost everything on your own, why do you just leave the Title and H1 tags?
And if you do,there is no question of GOOGLE penalization for you .

Thanks

As far as I understood you, the content is completely different and unique, only the meta title and headings (H1, H2, H whatever) are very similar or even exactly the same. That's fine, no need to worry about any penalty. We have several sites with a very similar structure, titles and H1-H3 almost 100% identical with some competitor sites (slightly different order). You don't have to re-invent the wheel. As long as the main text/content is unique, no problems evers.

Your content is different but your headings are the same. H1, H2, etc are similar if I understand correctly.

You will not be penalized for this. Look at all the local sites that want to rank for things like "roofers Denver". All of their H1s are the same and multiple sites are ranking.

Just make sure the body content is 100% original and use your H3 to include LSI keywords. You have nothing to worry about.

There is no doubt to me that Google will spot it after a couple months max. 10 years ago it wasn't like that but now... forget about it!
Google knows who had the content first.
The good news is, with some good technique you can just learn from them and have the same approach while having a different content.
Whenever you go for the quick fix approach, you ALWAYS pay it later. This is just life!

They can just file a DMCA complaint again you which eventually if they can prove you've copied them will get your site de-indexed.

Unless you change the content to be unrecognizable from the original, you might get penalized. And if you do make it unrecognizable then you've nulled your intention to make the content similar in order to rank.

Hello,

Google has set of rules and regulations on how a site would be and how the contents would be. In the same manner, the site must be unique and no duplicate content or layout design will be there out of all the sites that G holds. So if your content and Headings violates the google policy, it will be sure to pay attention to your site by the google. Or it will be safe if your site follows those G rules.

Apart from that, you said the content of your site will be completely different. So, your site may never be penalized by the Google. For that, you need to focus on your action while copying another site. Make all the things like content, images/videos, Headings etc are relevant but very unique which is must.

Best of luck mate. :)
Regards,
Neoterz.

As you are saying that your content would be different, there is no reason why google would ban you :)

I don't think people are reading what you wrote. If your content is significantly different, you should be fine. How big "Signifcant" is may be up for debate though.
