    Hi guys,

I own a blog on which I publish unique content of high quality. There are some big forums related to my niche and I plan to promote my site there. I thought I could copy an article from my blog and paste into a new forum thread. My signature would contain a link back to my blog. The problem is that I'm scared of receiving some sort of Google punishment for that. I've no idea how to work around this. Rewriting the articles is too much work as most articles have thousands of words (2500 words average) and only posting an excerpt of the blog post if forbidden in those forums. I don't know what to do next. Someone please give me advice.

Google will notice the duplicate content and you might get a little negative rating. Why don't you use a word spinner tool or if you need higher quality outsource the rewriting?

You're not thinking smart. Simply copying the content and then re-posting on a niche related forum is taking away the purpose for the readers to go on and visit your site to actually read that post you created, the main aim is to entice the reader to want to go on a read the article on you're domain, which will show google someone has sat for a few minutes reading it through, thus increasing your value in the search for your targeted terms.
Create discussions on the niche, and drop your link into the mix, or write a short version with brief details linking to the extended version on your domain.

@OP, it is a good idea to generate traffic and popularity of your site.

Copy the article to other forums and at the end of every article paste your blog post url as a source and you're good to go.

If you're duplicating the content, it is duplicate content...

It really depends how important google rankings may be for you. Forums could offer you a good traffic source anyway if you share your articles with a link back.

How is this issue still so misunderstood?

Here it is directly expressed on Webmaster forums:

    Code:
    https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/66359?hl=en
Here is the part that concerns this most:

Syndicated content is not duplicate content. Theoretically it will not rank higher than the original source (but this fails all the time as seen all across the SERPs all the time). Having your own content on other sites linking back to your orginal source is GOOD FOR YOU AND YOUR RANKINGS.... much more so than poorly spun crap.... but it ideally according to google will rank lower than your original content.

Doing blog network posts, backlinks, etc. with original content makes them more powerful, because that content can rank higher as there are no other sources google could potentially see as the original source. But given the option of syndicated from your site to poorly spun, take syndicated every time. Not to mention that a syndicated post with just your url as the source of the content at the bottom of the post will more than likely pass any manual review should one come. Because people and sites finding all that awesome content on your site and thinking it is so good that they want to put it on theirs with a "source" link back to it, is about the only linking google officially condones.

This is why it's bad to use other peoples content on the site you want to rank for yourself, because ideally, your content will always rank lower because it is not the original source. That's it. Duplicate content penalty is having too much of the exact same content on your own site, nothing else.

Since you are doing this for traffic and marketing purposes, go for it.

    End of story.

So basically u are saying that u can use an article over and over to promote the original source of that article and u would be safe as long as u link it to the original source. I don`t think this is safe in the long run.

Google's algorithm basically involves determining the original content. I do not think that publishing content with the source may be harmful. It is not determined by the search engines as a duplicate. The only BUT is that Google is able to define users. Accordingly, I do not know the outcome of your activities directly such kind. But I can say that it is sufficient to use a proxy.

    Bad idea.
spinning the article then posting it would be a reasonable idea.
but if you say your blog is high quality then much better to write something original for the forum as well- especially as it sounds like your trying to grow readers as well as link juice - what will people think of your "high quality articles" if they keep reading the same or slightly altered versions in different places?

Yeap, writing the unique content will be the best activity anyway. But in the context of the question asked the only negative side, that will follow similar actions, will be argued by the human factor.

No you don't abuse the tactic.... obviously :)

You don't put the same content on hundreds or even dozens of sites, especially sites not related to your niche, of low standards, etc. ..... that clearly would be a potential flag, and should any manual review come eyebrows will be lifted to see this as an aggressive rank manipulation tactic.

Syndicating your original content that is indexed on your site to a a few high traffic high, authority sites, especially in your niche (which is what the OP is asking about) where other readers can benefit from your content, with an attribution at the end to your original source is completely natural and a good SEO and marketing tactic.

Don't post the full articles on the forum. Instead of write 2 - 3 sentences about the article and give a link back to your site.

Very interesting thread, but I agree that by copying and pasting your content to some other platform people will not have any motivation to visit your site anymore plus it is duplicate content! Create snippets or teasers and spin them so that you will get unique visitors to your site.

If the content is published on your blog at first, then why google will penalize your blog than then Forum for copying your contents (does not matter who copying)
    also
Unique content for good page ranking, its nothing about any penalization
and you said, you will have the back link of your blog in forum, thats all

and for content copying , you can hire a Bot developer to do copy pasting automatically

I think that what you're saying is logical and right. If Google gives penalty to the source of the original content then to make badlink activity everyone can reblog all blogs to give them penalty and big G can't let spammers/competitors work in this way.

In an much as a copy is already in existence on the internet, it is duplicate content. What you could do is rewrite the original content
