I can't be sure if I'm not breaking some unspoken rule by posting this. I don't think I am but I sincerely apologize if I am.

I've been lurking here for a few weeks trying to learn. I'm a bit functionally retarded when it comes to computers.

Ok, the skinny is that I have a cooking show hosted on YouTube and Blip.tv. I've gotten partnership (barely), and worked very hard just to get to where I am now, and probably made every single mistake you can make in trying to do something like this. In order for this to be more than just a fun hobby and an actual career path, which is what I want, I figure I'll probably need to hit about a half million views a month. I'm quite a ways off from that.

One thing that has happened repeatedly is that is that I have sent out individual emails, or done the random friend invite thing, and even people who said they only came to my channel to, as one viewer put it, "unload a truck full of hate" wound up enjoying my work. Many people like that have now been subscribers with me for quite a while.

So, I've managed to collect about 14k email address (and I am very much looking for more if you have any to give, I have NO money, seriously, none), but I'm wondering if using a regular old gmail account to do this kind of bulk mailing will even work, or if it will get the account closed or inspire some vigilante to track me down and kill me.

I know most of you are professionals, and not exactly in the business of doing things for free, but again I'm flat broke and you never know if you don't ask. So if anyone even has free advice I'll gladly take that, and more if you have it to give.
