Hey all,

So i worked in this business about 5 years ago, back when cookie stuffing was everywhere and ebay was the main target.

Anyways around that time there was already talk of making it illegal. I've been gone so long and see it really is gone everywhere and am just curious what went down (basically the juicy details).

Also lastly, the biggest reason I ask, I work for a semi large software company that has millions of users a day, they are currently losing money badly and the CEO himself asked me to look into and start cookie stuffing. I declined and it seems like my projects are slowly being taken away from me. I want to know how legal his cookie stuffing request is as I'm sure he found someone to do it.

This should answer your questions.

Also there's a pretty recent thread around here about what went down as far as cookie stuffing is concerned. I asked this same question and I think @Sherbert Hoover answered it for me.

Just Google Shawn Hogan and Brian Dunning. It's worth the read and should give you all the background you need.

Cookie stuffing in affiliate marketing is definitely illegal.. it's like stealing the commission from someone else.. so even if your company it's selling its own software but they also do affiliate , it could be shaving the commission and that's illegal..
