Cookie question

I am not pro by any means, but based on what I know it is not possible.
What you can do though is to have some generic name website that you point to them, and have your redirect and cookies set on it, before you send them to the real one.
Please anyone correct me if I am wrong.

Hi,

Yes, those were my thoughts; however, I concerened that I will still be canned as SPAM as they see that I'm not showing the actual merchants website...

You can try img cookie stuffing. The forum will not notice it, it will be just a broken image for them. Your Aff Program might notice it though, since referrer will be from the forum, not from your website.

Depends on the forum... If the forum allows you to use html code, then sure you can do it. I do it all the time.

Text file attached.

You can code an affiliate link as per the text file and when a visitor hovers over it, they will see the url of the merchant and not your affiliate link.

The bad news is IF the visitors watches the hovering link after they click on it, they will see the affiliate link for just a second or two. Having said that, I've been using this method for years with OUTSTANDING results.

Hi,

When you mention coding it in, I have attempted to inset the code without any TAG's and it simply displays the code...I have used the CODE tags and HTML tags; however, all of these simply display the code. This is a vBulletin forums; therefore, am I doing something wrong?

Thanks.

Probably not... A lot of forums these days have firewall scripts and other security measures to keep members from injecting code into the forum so more than likely, that could be your problem.

If so, then as barsha says, you may want to invest in some urls simply for redirecting to your affiliate link... If you purchase a .info domain, this can be a pretty cheap way of redirecting to your affiliate link.

In a lot of cases, I've been able to obtain the exact same domain name of the affiliate product but with a .info instead.

But I also use .net .biz and .org...

And if that domain is not available with any of the above extensions, then I simply play with it like this...

Let's say the domain name is:

perfectpoison.com

You could purchase:

purfectpoison.com
perfectpoison.net
perfectpoison.info
perfectpoison.biz
perfectpoison.org

But none of those are available so you play a little more:

getperfectpoison.com
perfectpoisonnow.com
myperfectpoison.com
theperfectpoison.com

Get it? Then simply login to your registrar and redirect the domain to your affiliate link. Now use your new domain on the forum.

Hi,

Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

Last question if I do the IMG cookie - how do I do that within a forum?

Find that info in another thread here on the forum... Shouldn't take you long. Why go into it here when it's already been discussed elsewhere?

Good luck...
