Cookie Consent completely free

Current situation
I'm currently using CookieYes for cookie consent on my website, but I just received a warning saying I’ve reached 80% of the 15,000-visit limit and should upgrade to a premium plan.


The issue
My website is still quite new and has no monetization yet, so I can’t afford any recurring costs.


What I need
I only need a simple cookie consent banner, are there any WordPress plugins that offer this feature without any visit limits and are completely free?

Try Silktide Consent Manager. It claims it's totally free.
Wpautoterms also have one.
I don't use it on my sites unless they are monetized.

I have a website that isn't monitised yet, its mearly giving ad space to my other assets some of which do pay. I have to pay for cookie consent from cookie bot. The site doesn't make money? Thats my problem. If i want to keep the site running, I have to pay. So It has to eat into allocated business costs. If your site is to be legit, and work within the eu, without resulting in fines or investigations, then you should pay, and use a good well regognised provider. It will cost you more in the long term. In the short term, look at either dumping your site if its a blog about a random topic you barely know (it'll never get anywhere). Or if you are an expert, move your blog to a bettter platform, such as substack, medium and or tumblr, and promote your other websites and contentn within those platforms. You won't need to pay cookie banner nonsense, if you are an expert subject blogger on these platforms.

If you're just starting off and can't afford to pay for things every month, I suggest switching to a plugin that doesn't have any traffic limits. Complianz and Cookie Notice by Hu-manity.co are both great free WordPress solutions that don't limit visits and still provide you a clean, legal cookie banner. It's better to utilize one of them till your site makes money, so you don't need to upgrade CookieYes right now.

you don’t need to pay for cookie consent, especially if you’re just starting out. here’s what i’d do: use complianz (free version). it’s lightweight, gdpr compliant, and has no visitor limits. i’ve used it on multiple sites and it’s solid. no issues with eu compliance either. if you want even simpler, try cookie notice by dfactory. super basic, but gets the job done. pro tip: avoid bloated plugins that upsell you. keep it lean. you can always upgrade later when your site starts monet...

For a new site, a lightweight, no limit plugin is perfect. Even a simple banner that blocks cookies until consent is enough and you can upgrade later if traffic grows.
