Convert NOT WORDPRESS Site to Mobile Friendly?

I'm trying to convert my clients site to be mobile friendly. I haven't found anything that's not wordpress. It's a php built website and looking around companies are charging a lot per month or year just to create a mobile site. Is there anything that's a one time fee or cheap to make a website mobile ready?

Have you tried looking into the phpmobilizer by Google? Its free, although I've never tried it myself.

Thanks I have not, was thinking about doing that. I saw that, some people were mentioning some problems with it, but that's all I have so far.

Mobile friendly in the sense of design right? Cant a web designer do that but tweaking a bit of html based on conditionals and a seperate css for the mobile visitors?

Whats the issue? Yes, ofcourse you have to work with the php codes a bit here and there.

Any half decent web dev on odesk should be able to take your existing design and convert it to bootstrap or any other responsive framework. If you just have 1 template than it shouldn't take long at all to tweak the html/css. If your site has dozens of custom templates than it might take a bit longer.

Pack it on bootstrap.

It easy to implement it on an already existing layout. Watch a few youtube clips and you'll get the hang of it.

Totally agree with the last past about bootstrap. You will need a framework like this which has the js code to detect your breakpoints. These are the widths you predetermine at which the website will "change shape". I.e Ipad portrait mode, smartphone etc. You can usually use your existing css and esnure that widths that are set in pixels become %'s
