to all,

how can convert an audio file such as a mp3 file into text?
I tried to that using Cool Edit Pro the new Adobe Audition but the results were not too good.
Instead of show me "This is my land" it show only numbers "-1598".
how can I translate ASCII text data into human readable text?

thanks in advance,

regards

hmm.. i havent tried it , but i quess you could use dragon naturally speaking or any other voice recognition software.

I have actually heard of someone who played some mp3 through it converted to text and then put articles on AC.

i dont think you can do this. lyrics are written by people listenin to the song over n over

I have dragon naturally speaking and I might try it later. But I think the software need a little bit of training to get used to the voice.

this can't be done due to the way mp3's are formated

yes you are right. It would work probably with one speaker. So maybe like a conference call or anything where 1 person is speaking.

I cant really imagine what would convert music into text.

You could just hire someone to do it. You can get some good outsourced work for $2-$3 an hour

yes you will need somebody to do it for you.

It is like trying to turen water into wine (impossible)

If it's under 10 minutes you can get it transcribed free or at least you used to be able to... Give this site a look:

You may not want to hear this... :)
But the best way is to hire a transcriptionist.
I have tried many of the software packages out there and none have worked very well for me.

The Transcription Rate service isn't free anymore and they charge $0.50 Per minute of recorded audio. But anyway, this is an option for future reference.
I will keep looking for something free :)

thanks for the information.

@0.50 wow

hire a guy from Philippines for $3 per hour and he will make a provide you with a great service. Of course you need to find a right one , but trust me many of guys from there are quality!

hey enrikole,

I had forgotten about this option. this is a very simple and effective way to get the job done. I might spend $10 and get a lot of stuff done in a day or so.

to be honest it shouldnt be to hard to do this yourself

This is a training that I got the audio using Adobe Audition and now I want to convert it to text so I can use it for future projects and also I will translate some parts to Portuguese.

i was looking for something similar some time ago to turn the words spoken in youtube videos into text - dragon was what i chose in the end.

Dragon is cool, but you need to train it for HOURS and HOURS to get it near error proof
