    Hello

I have a site selling a service and just installed jetpack. It shows that in the last few hrs I got over 600 hits to home page (mostly from google) about 200 to my "buying page" but I only got 4 conversions (this is w a 50% off sale)

    Is this bad?

are you talking about hits or unique visitors? if you had 600 uv's and 4 comversions in this time frame you have an cr of 0.7% whic is very low. normal would be 2 to 3 percent a good cr is about 6% depending on the niche

Depends on what you are selling. In general an average conversion rate for a site selling products (basic e-commerce site) is about 2% or so. It also depends on the traffic you are driving to the site. If its general it will not convert as well. For example, your keyword is lawyer, but your site is only for criminal lawyers. So everyone who needs a divorce lawyer, corporate lawyer, etc. doesn't convert.
