found an interesting research paper today
The Paci c Social Architecting Corporation (PacSo-
cial) has been focused on the development of tech-
nologies that enable large-scale shaping of social
groupings and communities online.

Our work has centered on the generation of socialbots
(swarms of automated, intelligent identities) on platforms
like Facebook and Twitter that interact, encourage,
and provoke communities towards certain behaviors.
The vision of this technology is to enable operators
to actively mold and shape the social topology of hu-
man networks online to produce desired outcomes.
The present report focuses on data that were col-
lected during PacSocial's most recent eld test con-
cerning socialbots designed to operate on Twitter.
An integral part of its development cycle, PacSo-
cial conducts such eld tests regularly; the results
of these tests help to benchmark performance and
also guide further development.

NOW THAT IS BLACK HAT
hat's off to you good sirs

it's terrifying to see our tactics and tools put to work in the political arena, with the kind of big bucks that lobbyists get.

imagine, what kind of quality bot a $300,000 budget can buy

I've actually been wanting to reverse engineer the Kony 2012 campaign. That campaign is a fucking masterpiece, and was definitely guided using some of these bots, and all other means of controlling popular opinion. I just need to sit down and do it. I know it would be enlightening

the kony 2012 campaign was VERY well funded
soros has a small fortune invested in uganda
and kony is messing it up for him
it was funded by an angry billionaire that could stand to lose millions if kony isn't brought down
so it probably had a budget of over 500k
here's how good it was...
he astroturfed a grassroots campaign,
the only people in the org that knew what was really up were probably the heads of the company
(they were obviously of loose morals, ceo was caught high on ex in public jerkin the gherkin)
they most likely utilized something like this
