Hi guys,

Do you know guys know any real difference between the following 3 backlink scenarios?

#1) English Website in general, Relevant English content, Japanese anchor text backlink
#2) English Website in general, Relevant Japanese content, Japanese anchor text backlink
#3) Japanese website in general, Relevant Japanese content, Japanese anchor text backlink

I'm targeting Japanese keywords and I wonder if I need to make a Japanese PBN site for the linkbuilding to work effectively.

Thank you

Go with either 1 or 3,

japanese article in an english website will look spammy, will require the right meta href langs,
and for a single page, it will be kind of irrelevant for the whole website/language & topical authority as you're not gonna be targetting relevant keywords,
don't get me wrong, you'll still get some of the link juice & authority passed, but it won't work as well,

a perfect one would be from a language/niche relevant website, but if you struggle to find good ones, you can still use the english websites,
you could still mix it up with language relevant backlinks from other sources (Guest posts, forums, etc...), that would make it less spammy & more natural

Thanks for your reply.

1. Do you think the hosting location of the website matter? I mean, if you wanted to rank for Japanese KW, getting backlinks from the same country gives Google a stronger local signal?
2. Can you elaborate on the reasons as to why you'd pick '1 or 3' and the reasons behind you saying 'it won't work well' ?
Is this purely based on your personal experience, gut feeling or do you have any solid background for claming such?
I'm planning to invest and build a big network of PBNs, so I just wanted to get the direction right before doing so.

Thank you!

#1 or #3.

#2 is very spammy.

We do #1 for our clients without problem. #3 you can do with your own PBN.

Ideally, the history of the domains you choose for PBN should also be Japanese language + matching niche.

they actually do, domain ccTLDs, website location & language,
pretty much as giving you a boost & more authority locally, they would pass it to your main website as well,

the thing is about available choices,
if i got the choice to get some solid link from an english website or some average link from a language relevant one, i would pick the english,
it's an advantage, just a part of the overall link worth which can be taken down if the other website is getting more advantages,
better overall authority, more RDs, lower OBL, better overall content, niche relevancy, how the page is closer to the main page, etc... everything should be considered,

depending on the niche and keywords used for a different language website, the website niche/keywords can be treated as totally different niche by Google,
that's almost like linking from a "pet" niche website to a "phone" one, that's not as good as a niche relenvat one,
people think that the algo/google is smart enough to know they're actually the same in translated language, but it's not always the case,
hosting a foreign language page in an english website is also spammy as pointed out before,
by the same logic, it would be a totally irrelevant article linking to some random website,
the same extend for the PBN anchors, links, etc... which are linked to your main niche/language and gives another advantage with that,

i've had experience with different niches in different languages if that's what you're asking,
both multilanguage & 1 language niche websites trying different choices & making small tests here and there,
i certainly don't have enough data to swear by it, it's tiny compared to the whole scenario, it would require mass analysis instead of just case studies/experiences,
but i've had the best rankings/boosting by using both niche/language relevant links

From experience, an English site with relevant English content and Japanese anchor text might work, but the relevance and authority won’t be as strong as a native site.

I'd go straight with #3.

It will be better.

For targeting Japanese keywords, #3 (Japanese website, relevant Japanese content, Japanese anchor text backlink) would likely be the most effective. The relevance and quality of the backlinks are also crucial factors to consider.

#3) Japanese website in general, Relevant Japanese content, Japanese anchor text backlink
This is the best solution. And Creating a japanese PBN - A big yes.

I would go with 3, It's relevant and trust worthy in the eyes of Search engines

I think the 3rd one will work effective. Because it involves a Japanese website with Japanese content and anchor text backlinks, improves maximum relevance for targeting Japanese keywords.

It would be best to choose option 1 or 3.
