Hello everyone I am new to this forum happy Mondays back to work!

I was just hoping to rack your brains for a bit. I have a business that is how you start up and I’m trying to get my social media marketing side up and running.

I was having a discussion with my friend over the weekend and he told me the best way to get more followers is to post a wide range of content on Facebook business page/Twitter account...

Now I have some problem with this and perhaps this is where I’m going wrong which comes down to this question.

Should you post content specific to your business with in an industry or should you post content about the whole industry despite it not necessarily being anything to do with your business?

It would be great to have your thoughts.

Many thanks Dave

Post content only that your business connects to - if you want to convert that audience later but if you just need somewhat big numbers on your accounts, share and create industry related content.

Thanks for all your replies! You see I am more leaning towards posting content directly related to my business. This is fine but there is limited content..

My business is an aspect of disability/handicapped industry. I make adaptations for cars for disability/handicapped persons.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I can’t see the point in posting something to do with access to restaurants if a it is not accessible for a wheelchair user?

ahhh!!

Always focus on your business, unless the news is of importance to all of your subscribers or readers. At the end of the day, would you like to read about something of no interest to you?

I am sure not, so focus of business case studies, winners and losers, how to make money, etc.

Focus on your business only. If you'll generate some interesting specific content - more followers/buyers interested in your product will come to you.

Related to your business is probably the best option and focus for you right now in terms of time and resources.
