What would be better in terms of SEO?

Let's say you have one 1200 word article.

Would it be better to make 3 separate posts 400 word each... or just make one post with 1200 words?

Dividing the article would make my website less thin... but I think big G likes longer content now.

That is a really good question. I hope someone more knowledgeable would clear this up for both of us.

Id say stick with the longer article. Makes you look more like an expert. But then again 3 short articles aint so bad either.

What do yall think?

This is a good question.

I would bet on 3 quality articles, especially when you can target long tailed related keywords which would emphasize the main KW and bring more traffic.

But the real question would be is page lenght a SEO criteria for Google and to be honest it looks like a thing that robots can give importance to.

I'm finding 600 to 700 range to be the sweet spot. Not to long for readers and long enough for google. It will depend on the niche topic though.

I don't know if G likes 1000-word article? But what i know for a fact is that longer the content, greater the chances of a visitor ending a session, if the article is not presented in an appealing way. Visitors could get overwhelmed by the sheer length of the article and end the session. And that surely is a roadmap to panda effects.

On the other hand, if the 1000-word article copy is written in an appealing and engaging manner, you might be able to get a long-time reader and a subscriber.

Articles should not be very lengthy as it has proven to increase the bounce rate. Thats why you must have noticed that many famous blogs break down a long article in many pages.

I would say the shorter and sweeter the better because ppl tend to scan when reading on the internet and dont wanna sit down and read one huge article

Limit your articles to 500. I find that content and keyword friendliness gets diluted with longer articles. Eventually, the focus is lost a little bit and you might start indirectly targeting unrelated keywords.

2 articles off 600 words or 4 articles of 300 words or even 6 articles of 200 words. IMHO they are ok.

and I have used nearly all of these variations on my blogs. I can simply say, they all work.
