Hi everyone,

I have one Wordpress website using "Puzzles Theme" and I have one question about how they handle thing on their theme.
This is a magazine theme, and there is what they call "Advertising Sidebar", which is in fact 4 columns right above the footer. As I like how my blog stream looks with the theme, I used this sidebar in order to display some content about my categories pages.

Here is a picture of the sidebar on their theme preview, so you can understand how it looks (the part where I added the red border). The advertising sidebar stars at the end of "side" sidebars if there is any.

On the source, here is how it looks :

On this example above, they are displaying various infos and widgets on this "advertising sidebar", but on my website it's only 4 text widgets with around 600 words between the 4 columns. My question is, SEO-wise, is it bad to have most of my content on the <footer> tag instead of the main part of the page ? I mean, main content is mostly blog post preview like the picture above, and I can't really add the text above this.

Any advice welcome !

You are hinting that it isn't the content that the page is about by placing it in the footer. If google picks up that signal it could opt to not include it for indexing. (I don't think Google does that currently) I would do some test searches in google and see if you appear in any search results for keywords that only appear in your footer... If you don't have anything that is unique to the footer then conduct a test by making up a word like Jabbywonkaphelia and put it in the footer of one page. Wait a couple weeks then search Google for the made up word.

My guess is that it will appear.

Any idea on how I could make it on the main content but after the "side" sidebar as it's taking the whole 'content + sidebar' size ?
(And I have different "advertising sidebar" for each category)

Ok so I was able to get it out of the footer.
One more question now is about role=" "

Should I put all my blog preview as role="complementary" (they're role="main" right now) and put my content sidebar on role="main" instead ?

Well not with this theme, as the sidebar is above the "real" footer, but still in <footer> tag. I can change it for each post and choose to display it or not.
I was able to get it work like I wanted, just still a bit confused about the role="main" and "complementary"
