Content curation. Anyone else love it?

Just curious who else here is involved in content curation, in whatever form. Interesting subject I love to talk about!

"content curation" is nothing but a random word some assclown made up and is now being used on all the noob forums because it sounds more flashy than scraping...

I disagree. But I think we're coming at the practice from two different viewpoints. You, scraping. Me, curating. I enjoy organizing and highlighting important information and news in various niches, I only build websites that interest me personally. You...scrape, and I have no knowledge of that, because it's lazy.

Don't get me wrong. I see alot of you guys making money with your sites and the scraping techniques. I'm just saying. I don't care what you call it, or if you feel like a vet 'cause you call it something else, I just wanted to talk about the practice. I've been experimenting with WordPress and a few really interesting themes for this and it's alot of fun.

If they are here to read about different ways to make money as opposed to some flashy bs 2.0 jargin to try and fit in, then you are correct.

OK. So you provide your One /Thread Option, but Google shows no result for that, nor does searching on BHW. So WTF, again, are you even talking about? You seem to just want to sit on a high horse and promote this product as my solution - when I'm not even looking for one. Just conversation on the subject, whatever the fuck you want to call it. Do you try to add value to threads, or just puff your chest?

Curation is a good strategy... although I would say a good secondary strategy. If you create good unique content (while not always the focus on autoblogging etc.) then adding a layer of content curation helps make your domain get deeper and more living essentially.

From my experience I've seen search traffic right away (12 hours) from curation on a trusted domain. But what curation really can do is help with social as well, scrapping seldom sends the right social signals (unless you scrap that as well).

I can't say I agree with the assclown comment above, here's how I use and think about both:

In scrapping we are taking content (sometimes from multiple sources) and maybe spinning it to make it unique enough and releasing that, usually with little or no commentary and very seldom do we attribute the source in the same way as "content curation". I want this to be as automatic as possible and make it look as close to a real person has created it as possible.

In a content curation strategy I take snippets of content and add commentary to it making the combined content unique while giving attribution. This is usually person created completely with the help of few processes and systems.

I am using both in my business, both have their purpose, given market, niche, and opportunity. But I make a distinction between content curation vs scrapping.

ahahaha I don't want to be mean, but I have to wonder why there are so many gullible people on this forum. I'll keep this thread going though.

Lemme help you both: he's being sarcastic. There is no such program as CurationBox. It is a play on the title of one of the most popular programs out there (i.e. ScrapeBox).

What he's saying is that "Content Curation" is just a slightly fancy synonym for scraping people's content.

Ah, and here I thought I was crazy, LOL. Sarcasm on the internet...always a win. Heh.

And again, that guy, and I, were coming at the topic from two different directions. The poster above had a clearer understanding of a distinction, enough to create a conversation anyway...

I agree about the attribution - that's a key part of the way I offer curated content through my websites, which do receive decent traffic for a gullible newbie (LOL). In addition, when working in a niche as a content curator, because of my good practices through attribution, I'm very often able to network and be promoted by sites within the niche...rather than the scraped site, which is seldom considered very reputable by real authority sites within the niche.
