basically we just search the topic/keywords we have in mind and just re-write our competitor's ones right ? even if we outsource, this is what the seller would do too ? their so call 'research' , unless of course the writer is a professional in that industry/niche and even so I doubt anyone will rack their brains and write a 1000+ words article from scratch.

im about to start on my content/articles just wanna check that i am on the right path

They should be used for inspiration and analysis of what works.

Value should be added to your content to be worthy of ranking.

Basic rewrite will not work long-term. You will pass originality and uniqueness but no value will be added.

maybe take references from a few competitors on the same topic/keywords and re-write/combine them ?

Yes definitely combine.

You can also grab facts and overall data from other sources. Competitors ranking not so high for example. Even offline sources like books.

This will stir up the waters of your SERP.

A question for you - What is your method of writing? Don't you do research online?

This is how any article is written. This is how other writers write. It is not a 'so called' research as long as you are coming up with your own flare on that piece of content.

If you are writing your content with all your knowledge and domain expertise, you will not sell it 1000 words for $5. Will you?

You are right. If you hire a content writer that doesn't have any experience in a niche, he will read other blogs and write in his own words. There is no other way.

You can still rank with such articles but natural backlinks won't come easily.
 
it's more about the depth of the topic coverage. Saying you're targeting the topic "is acrylic paint safe for skin?". Current top pages for the term might have covered subtopics like -

1. what is acrylic paint
2. acrylic paint ingredients
3. can you use acrylic paint on skin
4. other skin safe paints

Now, you can go ahead and cover the topic even deeper like -

1. what is acrylic paint (this part can be skipped and covered in a separate article)
2. acrylic paint ingredients that can potentially harm your skin
3. can you use acrylic paint on skin?
3.1. acrylic paint on face
3.2. acrylic paint on body
3.3. acrylic paint for finger painting
3.4. acrylic paint for baby handprint
4. can one be allergic to acrylic paint?
5. symptoms of acrylic paint allergy
6. how to remove acrylic paint from skin?
7. what paints you can use on your body and face

(this was a rough example made based on brief research)

also. doing research based on already ranking pages isn't always the best decision. There are forums almost in any niche. Plus, there is a discussion related to almost all types of things on quora. find these pages, and read peoples' honest opinions written without any intent, unlike blog posts which are written to make money.

well this can be a source of inspiration but not in an exagerated way as google can detect it it will not good for you
Try also to combine this strategy combining with your content ,translated content etc
 
I analyse top 10 results in SERPs, after that I build my content strategy. I include every important thing from those articles and make my own by rewriting.

It's always better to have many posts on related topics if these topics have enough volume. It's better to merge them into one article if they are small.
 
also, regarding competition, there are 7 pages of websites with exact same topic, is it considered too competitive? should I still go ahead ?
for example: can xx eat xx ? first 7 pages on google search all have that exact same keyword topic
 
There are more steps involved if you want to beat your competition.

Rewriting content is not a simple case of rewording a piece of information.

It definitely does not involve "spinning" existing text because that will not get you anywhere.

Spinning text goes nowhere, whether you do it with AI or manually.

You have probably heard all sorts of stories where people say they've succeeded with spinning, but how about the many others who did the same thing but got nowhere?

There is such a thing as survivor bias.

Proper rewriting doesn't stop at the source.

You look at what other search results show, and the key is to come up with something better organized, more comprehensive, easier to scan, and easier to read.

You're trying to have content with a different engagement level than your source.

Ideally, you should hire somebody who will not only rewrite content but who knows how to optimize it using tools such as SurferSEO.

This type of service, of course, comes at a higher price.
