Content/Article writing question.

Quick question. Does my grammar has to be flawless to sell content? Though whenever I write articles I goes into "Geek mode" and begin to become very detailed and specific. However, I just wanted to know does my writing has to be flawless in order to sell some articles? I've been writing articles since Monday, I have written 19 articles so far since Monday. I have articles on topics such as; anxiety, depression, personal development and relationship advice.


Does these articles has to be flawless?

Depends, are you trying to build an actual business that you intend to work on for the long term, perhaps hire writers down the road? Or are you just doing this to raise funds for other projects? If you're going long term, everything should be your highest quality, to build your reputation, and hopefully a brand. Look at Content Yogi here, they built a business based on stellar articles and slapped a fancy logo on themselves and charge huge for articles compared to most.

You can find the answer by thinking about the above.

During our writing we aim to provide the highest quality content we can. We proof-read all of our work to make sure there will never be an error for the client. Our aim is to provide articles and content that can be slapped straight onto their site.

Personally I think you should do the same if you are writing for a client. Always try to provide your best work to build a solid reputation and to ensure you obtain a long term client.

Yes, you do want to use the utmost perfection you can when writing articles. Think of it this way:

If you're the person hiring yourself, if you get absolutely perfect content with no errors and you don't have to change anything, you'd probably go back to that person.

If you're the person hiring yourself, and you get decent content with a few errors, and you have to change a few things, it makes a world of difference.

It really only takes a few seconds/minutes to look over your grammar after writing and correct it. If you're going to take 15-30 minutes to write a high-quality article, you might as well spend another minute making sure it's right.

If I were to hire someone to write an article for me, it would be because I do not wish to do the job myself. I know for a fact that my grammar would perfect. I would expect that same quality to be a no brainer for anyone who writes for a living.
 
Spelling and grammar are a must. Most people I have dealt with will take average prose and structure over a misspelled piece of trash any day.
 
I agree with you all, However my grammar is perfect and I am writing with Microsoft word so that helps and point all of the errors if there are any in a document, I'm also a pretty good writer and is very detailed and careful on how I write. I'm just new to all of this stuff and I recently read a thread on here (BHW) where someone said that some of their high quality articles were rejected by a website called Constant-Content, and that your articles has to be flawless in order to sell articles on that websites. Thanks for the replies. I just need a little guidiance and excuse me If I am asking silly questions! lol

I would work on the grammar of your post before you try and round up customers to sell your writing service to...

Why don't you read books on improving your grammar? That's what I used to do a couple of years ago.

Reading books after books, I have learned that grammar is the ultimate horseshit. You don't have to focus on commas and fullstops. You certainly don't have to think about active and passive voices while writing. Seriously, that's a waste of your time.

Focus on writing articles that are engaging and easier to understand.

I have read books by authors claiming that they write 80 words per minute, without hitting the backspace button. I can easily churn out 40 words per minute these days. Trick here is to write your heart out. Now I write as fast as possible, then refine the sentences later. I do remove fluffy lines. Remember: Proofreading is the secret key to good writing.

Oh, and let me tell you this massive secret: Writing is meant to create an impact -- not to show how smart you are.

You can start by reading a book or two on grammar. Write down what you feel is going to be super-useful to you. After that, shove those books into a suitcase.

Done?

Now start writing!

Did you read OP's post? He's looking to sell content. From my experience, most people looking to hire content writers want the utmost perfection in each and every article. If your grammar is shit they aren't too likely to be happy.

You should work on your grammar. :)
 
No offense, but your grammar is going to have to be a lot better than what you displayed with that post. Try Grammarly if you need to. The better quality your writing is, the more $ you can ask for it.
 
Having been a content writer for over 8 years, i can assure you that grammar will not take you anywhere. Most pepople are looking for native English speakers, and if you are not, certainly you have to write as it is written there. Take your time to perfect your english and you will be making residual income on the internet.... all the best!
 
Content needs to be understandable and yes grammar is a part of it... usually content writing is related to perfect English and when people know that you are writing this as a profession then grammatical mistakes comes in picture quite naturally.
 
Grammar needs to be perfect if you are going to market yourself as someone who can write content ..
recently had someone contact me to write articles for me .. when i checked their previous work ..it was HORRIBLE
sure he/she was cheap but come on .. there are all kinds of users/visitors out there who will visit your site .. and you have to make sure
the site is readable and well presented .
