Do not buy anything from www.contabo.com, they are cheap with reason - they do not deliver what they promise in offer. And if something go wrong you need to pay extra 25? for 15 minutes of work to solve some problem on sever.

There are a lot of negative reviews for them in WHT, their services are unmanaged (VPS and dedicated hosting) but I thought that they somehow improved lately after the rebranding and stuff.. sorry to hear such bad news.

Yeah thanks for the heads up and verifying. I have heard from very close friends to stay away and now it seems that's definitely the right move. I almost went with them too! :O

Yeah I even got scam by them, what fooled me was their epic design. You can't trust a company with epic design nowadays.
Hi. I just wanted to add to this and say that it's a real pitty I didn't see this before signing up with CONTABO!!
We only had problems with CONTABO!
1. Apparently our account was "hacked" and everything was deleted! BUT Contabo did not have any backup of our account nor could they provide me with an IP address that supposedly hacked the account!
2. They said we would need to pay 3EUR extra per month to have automated backups done! All other hosting companies run a weekly or monthly backup at least. FOR FREE!
3. Telephone support is a scam as it's more sales related then actual technical support! And support is only avail during office hours!
4. Had some email MX exchange queries and I was told they don't support email queries but for an additional 25 EUR per month they would offer this kind of support!
We were looking for a hosting provider in EUROPE and assumed that because they are in Germany it would be fantastic! But it was far from that.
I would NOT recommend this company to anyone who wants to host a professional companies website or emails! Rather go with someone bigger and more well known!

I paid the vps 4 days go and they have suspended my vps without a reason. They refuse to pay my money for this month back and not only that. But they want me to pay another 30 euro for reactivation XDDDDDDDDDDD haha
I would have open dispute for all the months i paid but it's not worth it, 20$ is nothing to me. Stay away from these thieves!

And they are not that cheap versus many other European based providers such as http://www.webuzo.net (my favorite , just in love with them 1 year now).
@ewok101 you are totally wrong regarding the backups, actually 99% of the hosting providers who provide UNMANAGED VPS hosting DON'T provide FREE backups.
And the €3 seems so cheep that I'm sure that for that 3.00 you will get maybe a monthly backup .
Now if you mean Shared Hosting, there is different story

You know, Linux is fcking powerful OS, you can't image how much information you can discover on your VPS /var/logs ,
You maybe have missunderstand their offer which is clearly UNMANAGED VPS hosting or in other words "Do what ever you want to keep your server and data save&secure"
@eXd77 : Looks normal to want extra fee to solve something that you have NOT pay for (e.g Technical Support ).
No offense my friend, but if you can't vps/dedi server then you better get an sys.admin next time to do basic tasks as:
-Secure your server
-Configure it for self hosted (or remote) daily backups
-Other staffs.
