I've been reading around on this forum for about a year or so now. Learning about linkbuilding and other SEO methods. So about 4 months ago I purchased two micro niche sites and a reseller website. The reseller website keywords are high competition while the two micro niche sites are low. I have bought the lady gaga SEO services from these forums for my reseller website... I have given up on the micro niche sites and am now trying to focus mainly on my reseller website. It drives maybe 40 unique a month which is quiet weak. I've ran facebook ad campaigns, have some good quality back links. I would like any advise on how to get this website ranked on google so I can start getting some sales. I have made $0 from this site. Any advise would be great

You may not have selected the right keywords... get back to Square One, take a new road may be with the same website/s, and redo the whole thing in a new focused way. You have the advantage of knowing what's not being successful, so try a different approach now. GL :)

So buying SEO services again wouldnt be the best idea?

Buying competent SEO services for your chosen good keywords is a great idea.

Do research on which keywords you need to promote and then ask your seo service to work on those lines. Choose a very competent seo service. If it is providing you the keywords, then do a reseach on them (keywords) first. Not all keywords are made equal, and they can even harm your site in extreme cases, or make you lose money needlessly.

May be you'd appoint a seo company that's either not too competent or is too busy to carefully choose the keywords (and choose a top-quality line of action), or have some newbie on the payrolls, still not an expert, who'd be (unfortunately) given the task of beginning your campaign... whatever... you must have some control right from the beginning of a seo campaign.

Take help or read more, whatever that needs for you to understand what's going on with your campaign... money alone doesn't bring success, it's the wise/expert mind that controls its outflow and that supervises the campaign flow will help bring a positive RoI. IMO. :)

May be your competing pages are well set for those keywords, they've been taken care of by better SEO and money power, and the competitors are quite active and won't allow you to have a higher place... Find other powerful keywords in that case and see if those too are having that kind of a competition. Anyway, I think that 4 months can be a very short time to look for any success for certain keywords.

P.S.:

May be you need to wait some more time to see if the effect works. Talk with your SEO service and ask why isn't there a positive result. May be you'll understand how their system works for their clients, and whn you could see better results. May be they can fine tune the campaign so that any existing blocks can be removed... They could be busy on other things, so speak with them.

2 questions.

1: Are you ranking at all for your keyword? If yes, what position are you at on Google?
2: How many monthly searches does your keyword have?

The main reason why you fail is that you are on wrong level. You should consider trying something else as social media services are one of the hardest niches to rank.

1: not in top 300 from what ive seen.
2: about 8,000 each keyword

8,000 with low competition and you haven't ranked in top 300 with SEO service. I think the above poster srb888 might be right, you might want to switch up your strategy and choose a new niche. Something $100+ that will always have buyers. Obviously I don't know your niche and I am quite the newb myself but I think a keyword that has 700-1,200 monthly searches would be easier to rank for. It's possible that you do have competition that you underestimated. On the other hand, it could be that your SEO service didn't do a good job. Have you checked your backlinks for quality?

laowai what level should I be on and what kinda services should I be using to rank my site?

Can anyone reccomend a SEO service or a type of SEO service I should be using? I have checked the quality of my backlinks.

I don't have answer to that question, but I know for sure that you cannot get your social media reselling site ranking by buying few packages. There are serious money in reselling business so it takes also lot of money and effort to get the required rankings.

My big mistake in the beginning was putting all my money into random SEO services that were just hurting my site, not helping. The thing about SEO services is the sellers are using automated methods to mass build links with bots usually and google knows that people with these type of links going to their site are using black hat methods and in turn will punish your site. If you want a site to rank well in google long term, you are best off doing white hat link building.

Don't waste money, do research on what you are buying and see what others experienced when using those methods. I ruined a 200+ post site that I worked on for months by purchasing some link spam thinking it would magically make me rank well for all my keywords.

thanks for all the advise so far. im keeping an XML doc on money spent and going to one day make a thread about either my success or my utter failure. If anyone knows of any good White Hat SEO services to point me in the right direction would be great = D

Your problem isn't failing, it is getting to a point where you can afford to fail. Out of all the websites I do, and things I throw together, a lot of them do fail, I then just scrap them and carry on with the successful projects. You need to fail to learn, and you also need to know when to let go and try something different.

SEO services are a joke. Guaranteed spun or "native" English (AKA FOB) written gibberish that makes no sense on Web 2.0s titled "seoforyou"...

I think people just jump on here after one week and attach a random celeb/tv show/superhero + SEO with a catchy pitch that makes you think they're an expert...

Oh Harry Potter SEO Gryffindor package! Bieber SEO! Alf SEO! Teletubbies SEO! Spongebob SEO! Jenna Jameson SEO! Bukake SEO!

By the way if anyone uses Harry Potter SEO as a name I expect royalties!!! ;)

^^ This, than all other things after that
First make sure you actually have "buyer keywords"
than think about ranking them

First: Don't expect SEO to be 'fair' or even logical by normal standards. (This is not a criticism of you!)

Second: Remember you're trying to 'game' a system - and there are thousands of people screwing it up and getting no results either.

...The bottom line is.

Try... Test & Measure results.. Learn... Try again (Rinse & repeat)

Constant testing and measuring is the ONLY way to educate yourself. Unfortunately, that involves pain, frustration, confusion & expense! But this IS a business - and you need to treat it as such. So investment of all types is required.
