I just started fall semester in college and we had we had to buy our textbooks from various companies. every time I went and paid these companies would ask for my phone number and this would be required field. later that day and even some days after I kept getting a bunch of spam calls. I get spam calls like every once in a while but this was over 20 an hour like crazy. Looking through some of the privacy policies many of these companies don’t consider your phone number as private information and it also says that they use your private information to generate statistics and data. I think they use your phone number to generate leads and sell this information to other companies on the backend of them also selling you overpriced textbooks. Do you guys think this is true or think college textbook companies and educational companies are selling personal data on the backend?
