In my state (Michigan), marijuana is legalized as long as you get a medical marijuana card from some sketchy doctor. Caregivers can supply the marijuana but can only have so much at a time (8 0z i think?) but they finaggle it so there's like 3-4 caregivers teamed up and they start a store (otherwise called a compassion center ;)

My idea is to start a website (I bought michiganmarijuana.org) and connect caregivers to patients. There would be a review system and I would have to set up some way for them to exchange the products without any issues.

Can anybody throw me any ideas about how I would go about building this or whether it's a terrible idea?

I just think weed is going to get big, especially with the new laws in Colorado and whatever other state.

Thanks guys

well there is a saying which goes like this, if you know the right and does not do it, is a sin, and helping people to get drug connection is not bad but my concern is the way they use it, i you have being to a psychiatric hospital before, you won't even bother to create that connection. So in all, creating a website is not bad idea but i will advise to use different niche instead of the drug- even though it's legal in your country.

I would say the legal aspects are the most important. Yes, medical marijuana is legal in your state, but is it legal to run sites like this? Is it legal to profit from this?

This is a great idea. I'm a fellow michagander now living in California. My family is still in Mi. However, building the site you'd have to find caregivers phone numbers, explain to them the websites goal, and get their permission to put their picture/phone # on the website. You should probably get it in writing, but it's your risk if you don't.

I do not see how it would be illegal to profit from facilitating a legal act....however it could get you in hot water if any of the caregivers are unlicensed or sale to non prescription holders....then you would be facilitating an illegal act and that could land you in trouble.

Personally I do not think it is something I would worry about....I think its a small matter of time before the full legalization of recreational marijuana comes to fruition. It would really depend on how important you become....if a state/fed government saw that you were facilitating a LARGE number of the "LEGAL" sales in the state....you might come under some watchful eyes

I don't think you will be hunted down as enabling them to do illegal activities. Just get them to agree to a quick legal disclaimer that says they are legal which should absolve you of all risk.

This should be an easy website to build too. Good luck great idea!

hmm... you got 880 exact monthly searches for michigan marijuana - you certainly can rank this site on the first spot on google for this keyword - the idea of connecting caregivers to patients is certainly good and should pe part of this website but you could spin this a little further: How about connection patients with other patients? If growing marijuana is legal aswell - you could start a forum with a lot of how-to's (How to build a growbox, How to dry...) plus encouraging your visitors to make posts about their grows (My Grow Journal/Journey) - Could be easily monetized with a online (offline) growshop...

cheers olystyle
