I don't post often, but I'm getting tired of people posting things like "that link is no follow, it is useless" or "no follow links don't do anything."

Let me clear the confusion for people:

No follow links do not pass link juice from the linking website to yours (arguably). However, the links STILL COUNT AS A VOTE.

With that in mind, nofollow links help you with your rankings. Now go and get more backlinks and make some more money!

no follow links are not useful to create backlinks

no follow means: approve by admin

    Thanks for understanding

I'm not following you brother (pun intended)...Regardless of which side of the do-follow/no-follow debate you are on I think it is a waste of time and effort to worry about whether your links are one or the other. Just build, build build baby and the rankings will come!

    Just my two cents...

With keep in mind, no follow links help you with your rankings as well too.Link is link why we need no follow links It is natural and strong link building method not to hunt just do follow .Mixture with do follow and no follow give you strong back links

Not only just think for Google

    Yahoo
    bing
    Ask

As Your website is pull up in these search engine as well with no follow and do follow combination its my personal experience

So better to quit this discussion .Just do natural link building

Plus if you target long-tail keywords with your comments there is a small chance the admin will approve the comment. However; judging from the quality of the comments I have seen recently that's not likely.

    Nofollow links:

    - Can send visitors
    - Are probably counted on super-authority websites like wikipedia - only where google has made specific exceptions.

Apart from this, I don't think they help serps. If they do, they definitely help less than normal links.

The nofollow attribute is still a great way for webmasters to "mark-off" links which have been added by any old user promoting his website.

Google is swamped with spam links every day and still has to try to provide meaningful, relevant results.

Therefore, I don't see Google throwing out the original nofollow system completely.

For the most part, I think they are unhelpful for increasing your rank.

For me I like to have a 50/50 ratio when building backlinks. Whether or not the nofollow links carry any weight does not matter.

It is better to have a good mix of backlinks to make building links look more natural.

I am willing to accept that some nofollow links might help serps (in rare special cases), and they are good for sending real visitors.

However, I'm confident that the argument for "looking natural" with nofollow is wrong.

Nofollow links are more likely to come up frequently in a backlink profile where someone has been commenting for SEO.

Nothing will happen to you if you have 100% normal links (called d0follow these days).

you certainly shared some useful info there :)

wish my English was adequate to get that.

are you trying to say solution to de-indexing is adding more do-follow links?

Nope i am not saying that. If that was the case i was already a millionaire with a f*ck my competitor service hehe

I tried to make a point. Always make your backlinks high pr, no pr, do and nofollow, comments, profiles, articles, dirs and i dont see any point in not ruling serps with medium competition... Besides the onsite seo ofcourse...

Personally, I couldn't give a flying fuck what my backlinks are.
I'll take any and all, do/no follow, brand new sites, PR0-PR9, profile, blog, guestbook or exchange. I'd even harvest for links from Mars if the option was there.

    Niche or random, don't care.
Relevant or irrelevant, contextual, anchor or nonsensical name, doesn't matter.

A link is a link is a link is a link...

If you target d0follow all the time then the flags will be flying high, better to have a huge mixing pot full of anything and everything.

People keep banging on about keeping things relevant but how does this work when your article (with all your backlink anchors on) is sat on a page with 10 other articles, all with their anchor text links there for the Google slurping?
Google is going to see each and every one of those other links and relate them anyway so what's the point in worrying about it.
Just keep on building, from wherever they come.

    Just my opinion of course...

Wrong. It means it doesn't pass link juice. They help with rankings making them useful backlinks.

When creating a link I completely ignore the follow/no-follow issue. I don't even look. It is like looking outside and saying that the sun is out so I will make that backlink. Why? Because I prefer a NATURAL distribution in my links. If you force your backlinks into a non-natural distribution panel, statistically you WILL standout. I mean, it's not as though there are some mathematically inclined people at Google right? Right?

The thing is, should you manage to get say some random scrapeboxer linking to an article that just happens to be on the same page as one of your own articles then why would it matter what the theme of the post is ?

Sidebar links, footer links... All going to benefit from any spam links that in any way connect, even if it's 6 blogs deep. Meaning that site A links to Site B, that links to C, that in turn links to D, then on to E and eventually to F.

That link on A will feed down and count.

Link in any way possible, just keep on doing it.
Rattle them out as thick and fast as you can ;-)

No follow is less valuable than a follow...but it still being usefull. And a lot!
Perhaps you prefer to do do links that follow, but no-follow are very easy to get, brings more "natural" aspect to your linkbuilding campaign and help in rankings...

No follows is useful, follow are even best

    hi RightInTwo
How could you affirm that? Honestly I have never seen someone affirm that nofollow are good for SEO since the main purpose is the avoid spammers to get such benefits on SERP.

I totally agree with everything Micallef said. I can't say you are wrong because I never made any experience of having only nofollow backlinks.

Don't you agree that may be a little chance of you being wrong?

    regards

Remember when you flamed me in 2009 for saying twitter & facebook nofollow links work. It has been officially confirmed, just like i said, Nofollow links are counted.
