Hey Guys

Just wanna to know the difference between https and http in seo ?

The godaddy support told me that In Jan google start to rank good the sites which have a certificate .. is that true ?

2- Can i convert my http site now to https version ?

3- Should i buy ssl from godaddy which will cost me about 65 $ ayear ?

4- what will happen if i didn`t buy ssl certificate and i choose htttps version while i setup my wp ?

5- is there any relation between https version (which i recently setup ) and the error msg which i receive while open my site in mozilla firefox ( Secure connection )

Thanks

https is a secure connection, http is not.

1. Yes, Google ranks https better than http
2. Yes you can, sure. Check some tutorials for that. It is not difficult.
3. There are also cost free cerificates, I think they would be enough for you. So you dont pay anything.
4. This will not work
5. I dont understand this question

3- Could you help me when to find Cost free certificate and how to put ?

4- But the site work now https !

Hmm, I think it’s debatable whether or not https ranks better than http - unless someone has a source for that info?

I know a recent study showed there are more https sites ranking on page 1 than http, but that’s probably just because most sites that rank are established enough to have https (which is becoming the standard these days).

The more important point here is that google chrome, and probably other browsers, are soon going to start flagging up any site that doesn’t have https- so from that point of view, it’s very important to have.

And with most providers now supporting let’s encrypt or whatever it’s called, you can normally get ssl and https installed free of charge.

If it works, maybe you have gotten automatically the free certificate from your hosting. So it's all fine :)

To be more clear .. i can open http:// and https:// but when i open https:// i found this

It's a minor ranking factor, emphasis on minor. There are a bunch of threads about it on this forum, but most of the members who responded to those threads didn't see much of a ranking boost. However, things move fast in SEO, so it might be different now.

Yeah, it's pretty easy. @pxoxrxn posted this guide a while back about getting free SSL with Cloudflare.
https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/how-to-free-ssl-wordpress-website.756144/
https://www.cloudflare.com/ssl/

Just keep a couple of things in mind:
  • Make sure the other versions of your URLs (e.g., http-www. http-non-www, and the https version you didn't choose) redirect to the HTTPs version you decide to use.
  • If you go the Cloudflare route, use this plugin to fix the redirect loop error: https://wordpress.org/plugins/cloudflare-flexible-ssl/
4- what will happen if i didn`t buy ssl certificate and i choose htttps version while i setup my wp ?
It'll result in the following error: "ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT".

Here's an example: https://paperairplaneshq.com/ vs http://paperairplaneshq.com/

Posting again :D, PM me if you want any help, FREE, I won't charge anyone for something that easy, but it can be hard for non-tech guys.

If OP or anyone want to install free SSL, or want to know free SSL providers PM me, FREE again :P

I don't think your site being https or http affects ranking, but it is better to have an https secured website.

AFAIK, let's encrypt offers free SSL too.

Big thanks for great explaining

I did it :)

seo wise there is no difference ..... i know they say but i moved some pages to https and this had no impact on the ranking and i am not the only one here.

The thing with HTTPs is not about ranking factor anymore since moving to HTTPs is so easy and free.

It is a big conversions killer to have "unsecured" displayed on your websites.

non https sites can get whacked by dns spoofing assuming they have login form
