Confused how HARO works?

I am a little confused about how you actually get links from help a reporter out. I know you can contact them b7r how do you successfully get people to actually use you as a source?

A lot of the stuff that pops up is some extremely,y niche stuff like “how to get babies to stop smoking“ lol. Of course it’s not THAT CRAZY but do you just build an article around that and then contact them? Or do you just keep checking every single day until something closely related pops up?

From my experience, most people on HARO are looking for professional advice in the niche from experts and not a random guy/blog.
You must have solid credentials to get something back
 
For this you have to be expert in this field and have some great news what reporter can use it.
 
Why do blog people suggest up using HARO to gain links then? I know a huge majority of them are no experts by any means.
 
Funny i was actually thinking about the same thing yesterday... I don't even know how to function it.. Maybe i didn't even bother too much to learn it. But do you submit articles and once they post it, they tag you as the writer?

Blog people are experts in the field of blogging.

So, if a reporter needs help is writing an article on the transformation of consuming media from fashion magazines to fashion bogs. And you have a fancy blog with tons of traffic, you're already considered an expert in it and could have a very valid point to say.

When you have a point to make and are getting quoted in the article, you can also request/ask for a link back to your blog.

Ta-da! Now you have successfully gotten an HQ link with the help of HARO.

I remember someone on here used them for his blog and got several links a month doing it. Never mentioned how it worked or what to do however. I’ve seen people get some crazy good links with it but never HOW they get those links doing it Lol.
 
You need to become an expert on a specific topic, this way you can provide a valuable response to the reporter and they will take your response as their source. So, you need to only answers on the topic you're an expert and do it consistently, it's the number of games

Because those of us who offer these services are not really going to tell you how to go direct are we?

It's like going to KFC and asking them for their recipe, so you can do it yourself.
 
Send the right message then get the links I do it often nothing too complex overall here.
 
It really sucks!! If you have enough budget and time you can go for it. They get hundreds of replies to their queries. So it's natural not to check out all answers. Try to compose and send your answer as soon as you get the query.

Of course not, but if the goal is to not share the source and how it’s obtainable. Why even mention you get links from them at all? I'm not talking about someone offering it as a service. I’m talking about them telling Others it’s a great way to get links and that’s it.
 
It depends on your expertise.

And, of course, this is set by the kinds of websites that you run.

The great thing about HARO is that it lists a tremendous amount of topic interests.

It really just depends on your imagination and creativity how you can tweak your field of expertise to somehow cater to the data or info needs of reporters looking for a certain type of information.

You have to understand that properly used, HARO can help you get tons of links from high-authority new sites.

If you need a case study on how this was done, check out Pornhub.

Not only did they sent out press releases based on user porn consumption habits, but they also used HARO because of very specific issues related to consumer porn.

As you probably already know, it's very hard for porn sites to get mainstream backlinks.

So you might be able to get some takers by having a little bit of imagination and creatively tweaking whatever data you have access to.
 
I used Haro for about a month before I gave up, my niche is sex toys and they always seemed to want the most expensive sex toys shipped to them from the UK to Australia or New Zealand, I gave up in the end as it was going to cost me around £400 minimum per item sent and they couldn't guarantee that they would use my item,

That isn't how HARO works.
